IMO auto tune is useless and sounds so robotic at best, .... eek2
either your a singer or your not. Tone deafness is hard to correct but possible with great effort. I enjoy singing over instrumentals every time...I know you have the tools don't sell yourself short,
....go for it and good luck Bradge!! cool2

La Bamba was, and has always been very popular here, but the translated lyrics make absolutely no sense at all to most of my Latino friends and relatives. I recorded this during a live performance using the S-970 several years ago. Used an old cha cha style, my custom guitar voice for the right hand picking. Here's my rendition of La Bamba

All the best,

Gary cool

Bradge ... you beat me to the punch on this ...
This month in honor of the passing of Buddy Holly, J.P. (Big Bopper) Richardson, and Ritchie Valens, my playlist includes songs by the three of them ...
I found these in my 'practice files' all played and recorded on my KORG Pa900 using on-board styles with added Pads - mistakes, glitches, and all ...

Supposedly, this is the English translation of "La Bamba"

Perhaps Paul (montunoman) could give us an authentic rendition?

Nice renditions both Bradge and Tony!

My wife sings La Bamba and even wrote some if own her verses in honor of
the many migrants who have to leave their beloved home land in order to provide
for their families and escape dire circumstances....I’ll to post a version of it soon.

Yes, Bradge don’t sell yourself short. Your singing is perfectly fine and will only get better the more you do it.

One of my few regrets in life is not taking up singing much sooner. Time is on your side, go for it!

Thanks for the comments everyone ...

Bradge ... the song may "scream for a vocal" but you did a nice instrumental of it ...

PS ... Whenever I am going to try to phonetically learn a song in another language (most often Italian), I will try to get the 'literal' translation, so that I know the meaning of the song, and can put the correct emotions in the correct places ... I will then try to listen to as many versions of the song as possible by different artists ...
One example of this is the Italian song "Mala Femmina" which I had actually been singing for a while without knowing the full translation ... I heard one version where the artist put a certain emphasis on one phrase, so I checked it out and found that the lyrics meant 'I love you and I hate you', which of course gave new meaning to me ...
