About 15 years ago, I bought a set of Logitech speakers for my computer for like $50. They sounded fantastic, but they're just wearing out now. I went down to Staples to listen to another set, but they're not hooked up on the shelf. The top of the line is only $100. Heck, I can't buy a Whopper meal at Burger King for that!

My needs are clarity (I listen to a lot of Opera and Classical music), and guts (I also listen to a lot of Blues and Rock and the "down and dirty" heavy stuff).

Also thinking why not buy studio monitors for the computer?

Anyone have experience with the Logitech home speakers. I'm not going to make a big project out of this. Just want something that does the job well, but falls short of perfection.

I can highly recommend Genelec 8010 (the more powerful successors to the 6010). They are small and powerful and, as you know, Genelec is a top monitor brand. Bass is also amazing for the size.
Eve Sc203 are also very good, not as loud as Genelec 8010 though.
Cheaper alternative are Bose Companion 20, which sound decent as well.

LOGITECH Z623 2.1 PC Speakers should fit your requirements at a mid price point.

Most of the cheaper computer speakers are designed for games rather than music, however people still buy the matching speakers for the Genos & Pa4x which suck big time, so the Logitech’s will probably do you fine if this is what you are after.
Active studio monitors are designed for sound accuracy so may be too revealing for your ears, but on the flip side most come with controls to modify them to your room and personal preference. (Best to pop down to a local music store and have a listen to a few)
No one can choose speakers for you as everybody hears things different, which is why it is vital to try before you buy.

Buy a set of studio monitors , gives a lifetime pleasure .
If you dont want to Use a sub woofer , you can start from 6" woofers . A very good choice is the Yamaha HS7 , and affordable.

You can certainly start from 3‘‘ woofers, that‘s what the Genelec 8010 have...

With all this info I didn't consider before, I'm going to do one of two things.

a) do a day trip to SA and GC (luckily right across the street)and audition what they have on demo

b) if that doesn't work, then it's.......buy a TOTL Logitech unit and hope for the best

I dread buying anything these days. Just too many choices. My life is run by "Consumer Reports" magazine! I just wish they would review computer speakers!
