I bought this unit a month or so ago, thinking I was going to have two separate EA7 setups. Now I don't need it so it is expendable.
I'll take $150. shipped to USA.

OK Don 2 questions.

1. Why do you use the perform VK but tell me I don't need to use it? Seems that I should be getting this from you.

2. What cables do I neede to hook up from kb to dr05 and how do I hook it up.

The distortion I am getting would all be eliminated with direct cabling.

Sure. The Roland EA7 doesn't have a vocal harmonizer built it. It isn't essential but I do like to have one.
The VK also processes your voice automatically, adding e.q., compression, gates, etcs., but only as needed. It is simple to use. It has Reverb, Echo, Pitch Correction and Feedback Protection. It's really a neat outfit. You can control what harmonies it sings by midi from the keyboard, or from audio. In others words, plug and play!
I already have a similar unit, the Harmony M, which is no longer in production.
I thought it would be easier to sell the latest greatest, which is the VK, than a 10 year old unit.
2. If you are coming directly from the keyboard, you will need a cable that has two 1/4 inch jacks on one end and a stereo mini plug on the other. If you are using a mixer in addition to the keyboard it depends on which outputs you are using as some are 1/4 inch but others may be 1/8 inch or mini size.
These cables are readily available. I can send you a link to one, but I'm on the way to work right now.

Sure, Paypal is fine. Let me know your address and I'll send it to you.
What keyboard are you using? And, do you use a mixer. I'll include the right cable for the recorder.

I need your email to send the payment. My address is 411 Forest drive, Mountain Home, Ar. 72653.

A couple more questions. In one of your posts you mention that your kb doesn't have vh on it. My psr3000 does so is this me just being stupid, lazy amd or gear lust? I don't think it matters a whole lot as I am lazy and after looking at a couple of videos at Sweetwater it looks like this would be much easier to deal with than the vh on the keyboard.

At the present time I have been playing everything through the speaker system and have not set up the pa. I have a small mixer that I have never used (brand new Yamaha portable model) and a Beringer portable pa. Haven't ever used it yet either. Got it so I could eventually play out. Now I just need to work up the hundred or so tunes so I can move around the kb a litle. I am slowly getting there.

Until you start using a mixer, you may have to record from the headphone jack, which works perfectly well.
This harmonizer is about 100 times better than the one in the PSR3000. smile
I will send you a private message with my pp address.
Thanks

Earl, most digital recorders have a headphone jack that allows you to hear what you are recording.

If you are not using the line outs on the keyboard. You can use them to go to the recorder. Takes a different cable though. smile
Gary, does the 3000 have aux outputs?

hey, this is great! I've got two of the heaviest gurus in arranger land supporting my comeback. I bought one of Gary's old 3000's a year ago & he's been helping me figure my way around it for some time. And now I'm buying a piece of equipment from the master Don Mason himself and he's throwing in his personnel support. Man it's great being a part of such a helpful community!

I recall the PSR-2000 having line outs, which were RCA plugs on the back of the keyboard. Not sure about the 3000 though. I always used the headphone jack for recording using the Zoom H2 and monitoring with the headphone out of the H2.

Not sure how to set this up, as the Harmonizer will be external. Can you run the output from the harmonizer back into the mic/line input on the keyboard? Then everything will go to the main outputs and/or the headphones. I've never tried that, but I think that is the way you do it isn't it Gary?

Don, with my current rig, I connect my mic to the TC Helicon Harmony-M, then fire the TC output into the mic/line-in jack of the keyboard. Works fantastic.

O.K. Thanks. A regular 1/4 inch cable will work then.

The problems occurs in trying to Sync send/receive the VH box via Midi settings to your left hand chords,
...it can be tricky on some KB's..and even some will work just by recognizing the KEY your singing in without midi but there could be spotty tracking in that use.Making it work on every start up is essential.
good luck.

I never have to touch it once it is set up.
And the VK does work without midi, although I didn't use it that way.

Same here - once it was set up, I never had to touch it again.

Gary that's great..... wish I had the same experience for me it worked sporadically at best for my VH uses, .....and on stage I couldn't trust it and that means bye bye eBay immediately!!....lol
Nothing better then an all in one onboard VH unit like KORG has with its TC helicon units installed.....too bad Yamaha doesn't think VH is important enough to redesign VH2....if they did it would make it so much better an arranger kb over all for singer/players IMO.
Maybe Genos2 will give us this who knows.

good luck to all that are successful.

Not a problem at all. The midi channels just have to match. Just a suggestion ... try triggering the harmonies from the RH ... you can get very creative with voice leading.

Yamaha is not going to license anyone else to do their harmonizer, at least as long as their faithful following accept what they have. Only hope is that they improve it.
Most of the Yammy users don't know it's bad. And most probably don't use it anyway.'

Midi is like telephone lines, both people have to be on the same line to communicate.
I set both keyboard and Harmonizer on channel five. Channel was for my left hand. It is the best if you want the unit to sing what you are fingering. But it is the most involved. There were times when a midi file changed my sending channel, that stopped all communication.

I like Gary’s and Don’s --- set it up and leave it alone. KISS

I found the great thing about the TC Helicon Harmony-M, which is no longer in production, is how easy it was to set up the midi connection. The manual, however, is a pile of garbage. I read that damned manual a dozen times before finding the setup information on page 20. I can't believe how easy it was to do this. Never had a problem after the initial setup and everything syncs just fine.

All the best,

Gary
