As far as passing on interest in music, all four grandchildren have participated to some degree in high school, and two now in college ... one grandson has a deep interest in theater, but we will have to wait and see how it all 'shakes out' ...

Between SZ and PSR tutorial there is a wealth of information and helpful people willing to share their expertise. Once I learned some of the ropes I too wanted to help those I could. I owe huge debts of gratitude to my personal mentors including DonM, Gary, DNJ, SteveM, JohnC (Bruno)....as well as others, whom I may not know as well, but who have posted helpful information. And I don't want to forget the guys that have posted songs that have inspired me to learn additional material, much of which I have put in my repertoire.

PS- Special recognition to Gary, whom I have calledl while I was on a job to get a solution to a problem I knew how to solve...but forgot. He's been like a WA WA or a 7 Eleven convenience store....open 24/7..... almost.

Not being a 'Yammie', I've not had the need to use the PSR tutorial site, but man, have I gotten a wealth of knowledge from here ... even just reading posts that were helping OTHER people, or someone talking about how they solved a problem of their own ...
And when I was early in my transition to KORG days, just before a gig I had to get in touch with Donny for something I was having a problem with ...

the help from S-Z has been amazing, and of course the first "THANK YOU" has to go to Nigel ...

Very well said. I know I feel the same way as I'm sure many others here do. It should be mentioned that the information gleaned here is not solely about keyboards but music in general, technology and other related subjects.

After reading Gary's post... I'm doing some serious thoughts about "re-cycling" when that time arrives.

...and Tony... SZ is a fantastic resource. Advice, conversation, music sharing and ideas many of us never dreamed of trying. Yeah, thanks, Nigel.

I'm taking it easy here.

The person I'm trying to help is in his late 30's, maybe early 40's. At that stage of the game, when I was his age, there wasn't anyone who knew more about music to help me out.

I'm guessing he feel's like I did. He would like to be the teacher/innovator...but here's the thing....

I've been where he has been and more...so I have to be careful not to overtake his position.

For example...perhaps a strange one.

Back in the late 60's, my dad asked me what I wanted to do. I said "fly helicopter's". I even had gone through ground school. He was, like his three brothers, shot up in WWII.

Thimg is he wanted me to go to college. He didn't have the chance. So that's what I did; not joining a helicopter unit until many years more...as a crew chief...not as a pilot.

So, the moral of the story is that I don't want to impose. The younger generation needs resources/guidance when they want it.

Not to take over.
