Don As far as your sex life improving, I am sure you will be fine. However, I can recall a few times, back in the day, when if had better sight at the time, I wouldn't have gone for some of the sweat hogs I ended up with for the night. Whoops, I guess that was more than you needed to know ha ha.

Had it done 5 years ago, got conned by the docs in to going with some newfangled, soft lenses that took care of astigmatism too. Well, they did the right eye first, which worked out quite well, then a week later did the left, which now has double vision. Turns out the failure rate is about 25 percent with these particular lenses and it cost me $4,000 over and above the medicare coverage and insurance coverage. Now, all the colors became vivid, and with eye glasses I can see better than any time in my life. Images are very sharp and clear, and as soon as I remember what sex was, I'll let you know if it is better. Unfortunately, I have now developed dry AMD, which eventually, will result in my going totally blind. This usually takes longer than I have to live, though. If it transitions to Wet AMD, then the disease progresses much more rapidly. Gettin' old ain't fer wimps and sissies, Gary

Don't ask my wife. She seems to have a low tolerance for pain. She hurt from it and she claims it did little to no good. But thats just one. Everyone else seems to think it's the thing to do and all of the information says its painless. Sorry, but I haver never found cutting on any part of the body to ne painless.

Don, both my wife and I had the surgery done, it was a breeze – except for my worrying about it. The worst part for me was putting in the eye drops and my first shower. My wife talked with the surgeon throughout the procedure, but there’s nothing much that can stop from talking. (smile)
Let me put this in caps: YOUR CONCERN SHOULD BE FOR THE 2 TO 3 WEEKS AFTER SURGERY, be careful, allow for the healing. You will find that it was all worth it --- when you see what you saw years ago. Bright and colorful.
$5,700 out-of-pocket sounds high, do you have insurance? Without the extra lenses my price was less than half of what you are paying. I do have insurance. John C.
If you need a loan, I would ask Gary, he’s one great guy. Or possibly Donny. Forget Bernnie, he's a bit tight.

Medicare Part A will cover the standard, hard lens implant surgery, but the soft corrective lenses are not covered by any insurance carrier and strictly an out of pocket deal. We have a separate Blue-Cross/Blue-Shield eye insurance program, but the implants are excluded from the coverage. It just covers the basics. The hard lenses can fog up after 3 or more years, however, this is quickly corrected with a simple, painless laser procedure done in office. The soft, corrective lenses can pop free. I had a bad coughing spell a few months ago and suddenly went blind in my left eye. The blindness was kind of weird, everything turned grey - not black, but the with some saline eye drops, the problem resolved in a few hours. Really scary, though. The eye doc said she didn't have a clue what happened, but some online research revealed this can happen. Good luck, Gary
