You can allways add a little distortion if the sound is to clean..

Thank you Bill, Tony and Rikki.

Yes, it's too clean, but maybe that's why they called it 'Pure'? It does give you a great starting point though. Like Bachus mentioned you can totally add more dirt to it.

Here's a short demo for 'Pure Wurly' that also came with the new OS.

What it sounds like in the mix is what matters...

Naw… Most of the time there is no mix when playing Rhodes.. It can stand alone.. The most important thing is how it plays.. The key feel in relation to the sound and variations..

confused1 there's always a mix..
especially with an arranger, or band..

If you listen to just about any "Rhodes" it is isolated, it does not have to blend with pads or strings.. The Mix is not a factor. And if you are playing a Rhodes sound that way on an arranger you are doing it wrong smile

BTW: Don't confuse Houston material with a real Rhodes... it is all FM tine.. No comparison..

Thanks Fran
Good post to shake my old memory of a real Rhodes. Maybe clean wasn't the right word to describe the difference, maybe its warmth. Either way both sound great and are totally useable. And to have that and a thousand other feature in the 4X make it a winner.
I remember the first time I heard a Rhodes with an MXR Phase 90. I was in love with that "new sound"
