to go sailing, so today was one of those days where I decided to do pretty much nothing. Guess I'm right on schedule! Though I did sit down at the S-950, fire up a 3rd party style, romantic guitar, and recorded one of my favorite Glenn Campbell songs, Galveston. The very last verse is one that hits me hard when the lyrics say "I am so afraid of dying" I guess because the reality of it is right around the next bend. Here's my rendition of Galveston All the best, Gary

Terrible weather here too. Those April showers, brought May Showers, which are bringing June Showers. Jerryghr I was taught that the Mayflower brought the Pilgrams! Ohhhhh ... you said MaySHOWERS. And, don't forget they also brought beer - without which they could have never made the voyage. Gary

And, the Chinese were here before the Vikings, Native Americans and Columbus, though if you also consider the Aleutian's as native Americans, then they beat the Chinese by about a century. There are a couple wonderful books about this written by Gavin Menzies, both of which I have read cover to cover twice. Though some historians categorised his work as pseudohistory, his documentation throughout his writings convinced me that he was right on the money. All the best, Gary

Donny, this is the history of the Aleutian people, which is mainly theoretical about the time frame, at least from the books that I have read on this, but it makes very interesting reading. I have hundreds of books on world history here, and ironically, I hated to study history in grade school, but grew to love it when I entered college. I still read 20 pages of a book every night and would find it difficult to go to bed without something to read about world history. Currently, I am reading a book "Three Years Before The Mast" which portrays a young man's life aboard a sailing vessel during the 1700s. This was a time when commercial whaling was big business in America and ships sailed around the capes to reach the Pacific because of the abundance of whales and their nearshore migration from pole to pole. Some ships left New England and did not return for up to 3 years, when their holds were filled with wooden barrels filled to capacity with whale oil. And, many ships never returned at all - lost at sea in the myriad of tropical storms that were so prevalent in the southern oceans back then. All the best, Gary

Ok Gary, I listened to the song. Quite frankly, Galveston was never at the top of my favorite country tunes list so i pretty much ignored it until reading your other post.
