I'd say this song has alot of potential in many ways,
a few changes here and there on sounds and song structure
and your on your way. Good luck to you & your music.

Dave, I agree with DNJ - lots of potential with this one and you should pursue it vigorously.

All the best,

Dave, I would love to hear you playing that song and Diana Krall singing it - WOW! That would be an incredible duo - Dave on the keys, Diana doing the vocals. smile

All the best,

Gary cool

Hi Gary:

When Donny "speaks"... I listen... and this morning, I re-cut the song in question... with no VH or VE. I have not re-posted or replaced the existing version at SoundCloud... but will try to figure out a way ASAP. Like you, I would love to hear just about anyone with talent (male or female) sing "An Evening in Vermont" but most artists write their own stuff or have a list of writers they are directed to use by Producers and/or Labels. Just the way things are... and I'll just hope Lady Luck trips over me someday! LOL!

Thanks for your friendship and support! ----Dave

Good song. I agree the vocal processing is overdone. Anxious to hear the new version.

Now this is a nice challenge for Gary, Don M, Chas,
Fran, Uncle Dave, Tony M, & anyone else etc,...
Different ideas and versions could be very interesting.....
let's see what turns up? Sorry my kb is all packed for the
lucky new owner?...
That said, my concerns after listening a few times is the structure of the lyrical verses,....
and imo there needs to be some kind of instrumental break solo & a chorus to break it all up in the middle...
but that's the fun of writing and arranger
anything can be done.
good luck

As Tony said, "good foundation". There ARE a couple of 'foundation' problems, ie. timing of some of the chord changes, the 'resolving chord', etc. but I'm sure Tony will point them out (and they are EASILY correctable). I only critiqued the song structure, not the lyrics (which I'm sure are excellent).
Good luck.

Hi Chas:

Thanks for dropping by. Thankfully, I'm not a performer like most of you guys. By the time I've finished recording, editing, etc., it's on to the next one. I seldom sing a song often enough to get the timing down very well... but getting the point of the song across is usually the best I can do. Practice, practice, practice... wish I were younger, LOL! Without an Arranger KB... I would have restricted myself to "lyrics only" many moons ago.

All the best, ----Dave

Thanks, but I am out on the boat. No music gear. Maybe in a couple weeks.

Did you per chance pass Pea Patch Island as you navigated into the Delaware via the channel? Hope the weather and winds are perfect for sailing. Above all, be careful. The song will be here when you get back. Thanks for noticing. ----Dave
