For years I loved to hear the Barred Owls that took up residence right behind my home and provided us with some unusual voices til about midnight every evening. Then some screech owls moved into the neighborhood, took up residence right behind the house, and the screeching was constant until the wee hours of the morning. Just about the time we would go to sleep, they began sounding off. Remember the scene in the movie My Cousin Vinnie when Vinnie charged out of the front door shooting in the air. That's how I felt for six months of the year. They haven't been around for a couple years now, and to be perfectly honest, I kinda miss them.
