Please be kind if you choose to listen!!! This was one of the very first recordings I made when I first got my 2100, and was only able to record this with the help of my hubby, best roadie ever, and Gary Diamond!
He sent me the software, and actually spoke with me and my husband over the phone to make sure we had everything set up correctly for my first session . . .

Thanks Chas, when this was recorded, I barely knew how to fully operate an arranger keyboard, let alone, record live ... 😆
I think I would have given up on arrangers all together if it were not for this forum!

Thanks everyone, and BTW I am a HUGE Diana Krall fan! She didn’t really exist back then, but I could listen to her for hours as well!

Not sure if my voice has aged as well as an old arranger style, but I certainly am more the wiser thanks to everyone on this forum who had the time and patience for me back then, and now! I feel like a bit of a newbie again, but it is a bit like riding a bike I suppose . . .

Still tweaking my settings, especially the mic, but I am getting there!

Jill, so glad I was able to help. You did a fantastic job with this and I'm confident you will equally as much or more success with your S-970.

All the best,

Gary cool

That is fantastic, despite Gary's help. smile
Can't wait to hear you on the new gear, but it can't get much better.
I got a lot of mileage out of the 2100 and the 2000 before that.

Jill!!! Super job.

It sounds like you filter out most arranger parts.. making it sound like left hand bass. If in deed you are playing left hand bass. I didn't hear any flaws.. What makes me think it was left hand bass, you ended the song on a seventh bass note..

Great job...you got it girl.. smile

Very nice indeed. You’re very musical and a great feel. Right my
alley. Could you please do me a favor and post some more?

Surprised you don't know this tune. It's a jazz standard covered by everyone from Billie Holiday to Diana Krall. My personal favorite covers are by Joe Williams with the Count Basie Band and Ruth Brown, one of my favorite old-school R&B singers from the 60's. I won't post a link because I HATE it when someone posts a link to a professional/commercial version of a tune a member has just posted. That is SO discourteous (IMO). Again, nice job Jill; a very good feel for the tune.

Gill, the first thing that impressed me is your singing. You were not singing just words, you had that lay-back feel. Your personality came through.

Because I have listened to only male voice on this forum you were refreshing, I need another song.

Thanks for sharing, John C.

Thanks to all for you kind words! I love to play and sing, and the great thing about the arranger is that we can keep things low key and simple, or really amp things up with a full arrangement behind us . . . So versatile! This is what drew me to arrangers in the first place!
That recording was part of a demo cd I cut when I started gigging solo . . .
I hope to record again very soon, still tweaking some things on the 970, especially the mic settings . . . I am getting there!!!

And yes, the bass line was deliberate for that song!

Would love to hear "Good Morning Heartache" and/or "Black Coffee" ...
