Not sure if the title of the song is "Somebody stole my Girl" or "Somebody stole my gal" I know it's one of those very old songs, and just wondered if anyone has the music (top line and chords) in any of their music books and could spare a copy.
Any other info on this song would also be greatly appreciated.

Hi Peter
Just for information 'Somebody Stole my Gal' was the signature tune for Billy Cotton and his Band, which I'm sure the senior Brit members will recall. . He always started his programme off with a shout of "Wakey, Wakey" followed immediately by a very noisy rendition of the song.........
John

Hi John. You must have been a very young boy who like me was waiting for his Sunday Roast. If I remember correctly it was after the forces requests programme, 'family favourites'.
Hi Peter (Bentley I mean)- I must be older than you - I am getting to be older than most people now. I am pretty sure that Billy Cotton also had a show on TV in the Black and White days of TV.
The song has a copyright date of 1924 - but I wasn't around then though!!!
I recall a Kathy Kirby when colour TV was around and I remember she always wore very shiny red lipstick. Was a good singer also - I think Vince Hill was in his early days then too!!! Joan

Woweee!! We really are digging deep here My memory of these times ? Being allowed to stay up 'Late' on Sunday nights, to listen to Grand Hotel - I think it was Max Jaffa ( and his little tangerines ?? ) Another favourite was Semprini Serenade - a wonderful pianist....... Get the lampshades swinging gang............

One of my ex boss's was in Italy during the war, some nights a lorry would stop, drop the tailgate and push a piano onto it, the pianist would play for his supper, Name.-- Semprini!!!! Walter.

Hi Folks. Whilst we are on the oldies!! What about Geraldo. I would love a copy of. "Hello again were on the radio again" His signature tune! I think one of the most descriptive tunes for a band ever. Any one got it??? Please When Allan left Billy Cotton’s band it was in a cloud of mystery I am sure he was sacked by the BBC, and Billy Cotton did not support him!! Later he had a pub in London. I was down there for a Rugby League Cup Final. (My other passion being a Wigan lad) I made a point of going to see him. I thought he was a much underrated singer. His style for the songs he sang was Excellent. “It.s just the band you prefer, yes sir” Dah Dah Da Dah. I think only this side of the pond will know what I am on about!! Sincerely. Joe.
