Hello again, how are you doing?

While I’m enjoying my new Juno DS (with various emotions, though), for some tunes I find that PSR’s piano (with a specific layer) suits the best.

This is a tune of Russian popular composer Igor Kroutoy – maybe I’m not that successful as he is, but I already have the same haircut :-) – his music is rather minimalistic, but meaningful.

A lot of me staring into the camera here, also I shot some places nearby – the song is called “You in my September” and it’s September outside. After pretty cold summer we have moderately warm days now, but not for long.

Thought I would share it with you here (you keep encouraging me to do so).

What a beautiful song, played so expressively! Nice video too! I have a 950 also, and I’m curious as to how you created your lovely piano sound. Would you mind explaining?

Stunning melody... well played. Nothing wrong with "minimalistic" melodies... it's the emotions they stir that make them either meaningful or trivial... and this one is far from trivial.

I've never hear of Igor before your fantastic share with us.

Thank you. Beautiful work.

Thank you all for your kind reception.

As for the sound, I choose “Live! PopGrand” and then turn off the DSP (which is by default is on for this voice). Then as Right2 I choose Legacy>Strings>Slow Strings and turn its Brighness to zero. While the volume of the Right1 voice is set to 127, the Right2 voice has a volume of 55, but this is just how I use it. Obviously, it’s saved into my registration memory and I usually recall this setting every time I turn on the instrument.

Hi,
actually ended looking the composer up on Spotify. Really enjoyed listening to some of his music. Took me back to the 90s when I was a mad Richard Clayderman fan, about the only tunes I listened to , his, and John Barry Movie scores.

Interesting what he did with the classics.

So thank you. Found some new music to listen to.

How do you compare the Roland DS with your Psr pianos?

Thank you, Randy, for your kind words.

As for Igor Kroutoy, he’s also a successful businessman, mostly related to musical TV and radio companies, so he has resources to promote his instrumental music. As a composer he got his popularity by written music to Russian popular singers.

As for comparing PSR and DS pianos, I think DS has extra samples for pianissimo, and it seems to be much more suitable for solo playing, especially if it’s some type of background playing. Meanwhile, PSR’s voices in general seem to be more “perfected”. I can say, with PSR you get more of “perfection”, with Juno DS you get more of a “real thing”.

Having them both, mostly I feel like I got exactly what I wanted/needed. In my personal situation upgrading to PSR-s975 would be rather silly for the reason that it doesn’t change much in the whole picture, and upgrading to Genos would be a silly thing just because there’s no much opportunity to use it professionally. Meanwhile, the new SX900 appears to be a noticeable change comparing to its predecessor. It’s up to conditions in which I will find my country and myself in the future, but unless I will go further into optimization/minimalism concept, this new SX can be my next priority.

I realize this is more information than you asked for, this sort of statements helps me to hear myself :-)
