SX900 arrived Sat. PM just after I left for work. My wife dragged it into the house for me (not easy when you’re disabled). Got home around 5:30 am from work, so was too shot out to mess with it. Got up around 10am and decided to check it out. First thing I noticed was how beat up the outer box was. They could have at least put casters on it if they were gonna to drag it behind the truck.
The inner box was better, but it also appeared to have been opened. My first thought was...they sent me Donny’s returned unit, but they at least included candy. Besides...Chuck Surack wouldn’t do that to me...I was one of his first customers, buying sounds for my Kurzweil K250 from him back in the 80’s.
Fired the unit up and did some preliminary sound checks and I have to say, the SX900 sounds excellent. Revo drum samples sound great. Just wish they had more of them. The styles I checked out seemed very nice. Stumbled across the Legacy sounds which added a lot of the 970 sounds I was looking for.
The biggest change I noticed was the overall sound quality. Man...listening through my studio phones I swear my testicles were vibrating (sorry if I offended anyone)with the low end of an edm style.
I love the touch screen. It makes the old fashioned buttons around the screen seem archaic.
That's all for now. I will keep you posted. I have to say that so far...I'm pretty impressed.

Congrats on your SX900 no offense taken here I got a good laugh. Good news with your comment on the touch screen, that's some of the motivation for my wanting one.

After my initial testing, I am comfortable saying that the SX900 is a significant step up from the sd40 (which I previously had). Even the drums seem better on the SX...and with all the additional features, I’m glad I have the SX900. Mitch

Donny, I'm 71....I really want the Genos...I am into top nothch quality instrumental sound and the Pianos are awesome!...but it's twice the price...and my lack of playing for quite a few years now...tells me I should get the 900 and play, practice, learn, play Etc....then go for Genos or Genos2 later.
I have other hobby's, some expensive ones....justifying the 900 is pretty easy.
To be honest I don't think I deserve a Genos yet! Even though I would love to have one.
I do honestly believe the 900 would be a great keyboard to have, based on all the demo's and comments I have read. And I did try one for an hour or so at Guitar Center Orlando, FL only an hour from me (But I will buy from Frank)
I see your Icon is now Roland, what Roland are you getting? Lee

Life is short Lee, and everyone deserve all the best. I think SX900 is a 'baby Genos', it sounds very close if not similiar, and do most of the things really needed for hobby and home playing. I'm pretty sure it will fit for many 'pro' that's still active in business as well.
