I know we discussed this some time ago, but I just got a call from a senior venue I perform at asking me to provide a certificate of liability insurance.
How many of you carry this, what does it cost, what does it cover?Any info you can provide will help.

I got mine as an add on to my home owner's policy and it cost me about $150 a year for $1-million of liability insurance. I got it through Erie Insurance Exchange.

When I did lots of synagogues, and country clubs I needed it to get in the door, but I've let it lapse, since I have 2 "home base" venues now. I remember paying about $300 a year for $1M. My home owners rejected it, saying it was professional use only.

If a patron trips on a speaker wire, or knocks your mic stand into grandma's dentures - you're at fault, not the venue. They just want to protect themselves from the clumsy, less professional folks in our crazy biz who don't set up efficiently.

They don't cover live bands.
