Hi - trying to work out "Red Rubber Ball" on Genos ... seems the tempo is either 190 or 95, depending on the 'feel' of the style. At styles that sort of work at T=95, the measure is too long (the song is maybe 2/4 instead of 4/4??)

Pop Folk (or is it Folk Pop) works fairly well, but the drums end up "off" due to the 2/4 measures in the song.

Does anyone know of a good style for this song, whether one I can purchase from Yamaha, or another vendor of styles? The song is a bit unique in a few ways - the 2/4 feel, and how the drums/"band" sound during the refrain or Chorus of the song ...

If you had a E-A7 "Brit pop" would work @ 95 tempo.

Is there a resource where someone has translated E-A7 styles over to Yamaha format??

Jim, I never converted the E-A7 to Yamaha.. I used One man band arranger software (Yamaha format), so I did convert the G70 to Yamaha. . Some are okay but most need work, that maybe can be edited on the Tyros.

I never bothered because I don't need them..

Here are the G70 to Yamaha styles..

I think the conversion problems are because the G70 has 4 intros, 4 endings, and 6 fills. They don't translate to the Yamaha specs very well.

I've converted the BK9 styles to SFF2, but noone is tweaked so far, just quick raw convert.
If BritPop is similiar to the one Fran mention, try and see how it works out.
Be prepared to do some work.....

Here is a quick recording of "Red Rubber Ball" (no vocals); I ended up using built-in style "Folk Pop", but I will need the "Style Reset" feature (on Genos 2.0 update) since rhythm goes "off" (as you'll hear about halfway through) due to the way the song is structured. Otherwise, it makes an OK style. It doesn't have the signature drum "hits" in the chorus, as the original song has, but I play the chorus a bit more "staccato" to cover for that a bit :-)

When a style isn't 'spot on', I always ask myself "will the audience REALLY notice the difference?" ... There are times when 'close enough' has to be 'good enough' ...

To answer Dnj's question - after trying a lot of styles (including that EA7 converted style), I ended up settling on the built-in one called "Pop Folk" (or Folk Pop?!) - it was as Tony mentioned: "good enough" even if not "perfect" or ideal ... it worked OK . . .
