Hi all. It’s been a long time posting here. Had sold my s970 and bought a Korg PA1000. Sold that in October and just bought an sx900. Haven’t had much playing time. Have some Christmas gigs which I do for charity for local hospital so will go for rehearsal today. Will post impressions soon.

Have fun Sunster! Love my SX! A little bit of a "learning curve" on the new OS and Playlist, but love the new look and ergonomics! Have fun and keep us posted!

Just got back from the rehearsal. The sx900 really came on its own today. The choir leader was constantly complimenting me on the better sound from the new keyboard. Especially the new speakers help a lot. Quite loud but not distorted. Everything sounded well balanced and rounded. Mostly played the pianos, trumpets and strings with one or 2 songs with lead guitar. Sounds fantastic. Very very happy with the sx900 for now. More updates to follow.

Had a fantastic gig yesterday. Actually carol singing. I play every year for a local hospital and the last time I played the same gig with an S970 and what a difference now. Fuller voices tighter drums and overall much much improved sounds. The sound guy also noticed the difference. There was one small hitch or rather my ignorance. For the love of God I couldn’t find any way of adding a new bank to the registry. I had 12 carols to play. I set the first 8 registrations and then couldn’t find a way to add a new registry bank for the next 4 carols. Luckily I had the old registrations from the S970 on my usb and I overwrote them. In the S970 I had created 2 banks but in the sx900 I couldn’t do it. Can anyone chime in on this ?

All you do is write over current Registrations and save the Bank with a new name.

Yamaha Sx900 Saving Registrations

1-Press both Buttons. Resist and Bank
2-Display show what folders you have already saved
3-Select one
4-For information press Menu, top right, select Register Bank Edit. This gives you the names. of what you saved. If you want to change the names, press 1 of the 8 Regs. Then press Rename, top right. Write the new name, press OK

STARTING A NEW BANK (My way)
1-Press both buttons, Register and Bank. Select one of the 1 thru 8.
2-Begin creating the new. 1 thru 8 Registrations.
2-Press Save, right top side
3-All your folders appear, Press Here, top right
4-Write the title of your new Bank, Press OK

BIG PROBLEM, IF YOU DON’T have a well though-out method of the order you want the save your folders. Yamaha has written a lot of if’s and when’s in the programing, like the order of how the folders are placed. once it’s understood, it is easy.
My friend Ed uses 001, 002 003, ect. also alphabetically, harder to keep order.
Keep in mind that the Sx900 has been in my home about four weeks, so I have been taking the long way around so that I would not lose my work. I am now saving my work on the USB when I am done creating.

You can start working at #2 in “Starting a New Bank” , the rest was written helping you to get familiar with Registration.

Gary has the last word on this subject, John C.
PS, I am open for for correction or new knowledge. Wanna learn.
