My bellsouth email account was hacked.
When I tried to check mail it told me to reset my password. Tried but couldn't because my password to change the password wouldn't work.
Googled for help and found a number to call. Called the number and a "technician" offered to help. He told me email password had been changed four days ago from a "foreign country". He asked for my ip address, and since it is public I gave it to him. Then he said he would lock my account until we resolved the issue.
Then he wanted me to give him remote access to my computer so he could repair the problem. I told him I was born at night, but not LAST night.
I hung up and called ATT support on my cell phone. Immediately got a nice lady who sent me an address to change my password. The account actually was locked, but had been for a few days because it HAD been hacked. She unlocked it and now everything is fine.
I really don't get much important mail on that account anyway, but if someone was trying to send me something in the past four days, I may not have received it.
I have also discontinued my donmasonmusic emails, as I am changing my website to a free Google site. I'm trying to get my URL to point to it but running into a few problems there also, but I'll figure it out. My Yahoo email address is fine; no problems for more than 20 years. Except I'm certain they scan my messages for marketing info.
Interestingly enough, I've been paying the same price for many years for my website. When I didn't renew it, now they are offering it to me for HALF price. No thanks! It's the principle.
Now, I'm going to actually have a glass of wine with my brunch, an extremely rare occurrence for me! More than likely a nap will follow and I will awaken with a new outlook!
