The Baltimore Ravens set another record yesterday, one that may likely never be broken during our lifetime.



With 223 yards rushing against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore set the NFL single 16-game-season team rushing record with 3,296 yards, breaking a mark that had stood for 41 years. The 1978 New England Patriots rushed for 3,165 yards, during an era when running the football was much more prevalent.

However, Sunday was the ninth time this season that the Ravens rushed for at least 200 yards in a game, and they ended the regular season with another dominant rushing performance.


Additionally, they beat the Steelers in weather conditions, using nearly all second string players.

Yep, records are made to be broken, as the old saying goes, but I guess I'm a bit optimistic when it comes to the Ravens making it through the playoffs and on to the Super Bowl.

Donny, I looked at the stats and don't think the Eagles can beat the Seahawks next Sunday. The Seahawks are a tough team with an 11 - 5 season V/S the 9 - 7 Eagles season.

At this point any team in the playoffs has a chance to get to the SB ... and I guess the Ravens have a better chance than some of the others ...

Would like to see a Saints/Packers playoff game, then either of them vs the 49ers ...

Saints are gonna be a tough out for anyone. Ravens better hope the QB stays healthy.
How about Miami beating New England yesterday? Any given Sunday, it can happen.
Dallas was Jeckle and Hyde but lots of teams are happy they are out of it.

Those running stats are scary for us Chiefs fans Gary. Our defense hasn't done too well against the run. BUT the defense has been better every week and been coming into its own big time. I really thing the game will be Ravens vs Chiefs with winner beating whom ever the NFL puts up in the SB.

I'm not a sports fan, although I do enjoy the energy in the city when the home team is doing well, but here's my gripe:
These crazy Philly fans don't come out to the restaurant/bar on game nights, so every time the Eagles play after 4pm EST - I get cancelled. Grrrrr
So, with my heart in hand, and loving compassion for all my friends who love this stuff - I hope the Eagles loose quickly, so I don't loose 3 more SUNDAYS!

Wow, that's a tough situation, Dave ... it's interesting that your venue is populated by so many football fans that there wouldn't be enough business for you to still play ...
I can relate somewhat to the dynamic, though, as there is an excellent food market here that makes their own pizza, etc. and lots of other great prepared foods ... when the Pats are playing - especially a 1PM game, the place is a madhouse with people buying stuff to have while watching the game ...

Same here, Tony. After the game, the restaurants in Baltimore's Little Italy and those in the Inner Harbor are jammed to capacity.

Same here with LSU Dave, except they don't cancel me. If I can hold ONE large table for an extra round or two of after dinner drinks, it pays for me to be there.

in-between the cheers & halftime nothing more..people come to bars for many different reasons,.....hang out, eat, mingle, meet people, pick up chix, dance, watch the games, races, etc, listen to the music,
get drunk and forget problems, it's where everyone knows your name!
