Admittedly, I'm an old traditionalist, so while these designs are interesting, to ME there is nothing like the look of a classic grand piano ...
yeah....me too. Forgot the "look"..I'd have trouble just playing it. Too radical and distracting for a prof pianist. Score one for "traditionalism!"
Youtube man said "the sound doesn't have to come from strings." Sorry, but if you want the gracefulness of the string sound from the piano, well....it DOES have to come from strings. Doesn't matter really because the next generation will not even know "stringed" pianos ever even existed. That's how fast technology and how we listen to music is rapidly changing. Evidenced by the "space ship pianos" noted above.

Too true, a classic grand would look beautiful anywhere, the Roland , ( even though I like the design) looks more like a modern piece of artwork, to me would really only suit a very modern style setting.

Both look wonderful. If I had one of those I might try to learn to play piano just so I could sit at it. Some years ago Hammond had a futuristic looking organ, but not to that degree.

Back in the mid 70s when I worked for the Hammond dealer in Providence, RI we had an X66 in stock. I don't remember the pricing but it was very expensive. It was a dust collector and as I recall they sold it to a super market chain's President. And as you probably guessed he didn't play very well.
