Say I am in player mode, song list, audio. The song list is on the left and the player controls on the right. I bring up a song, but there is no LYRIC icon or button to press. There is in PLAY mode, but I am working off from a SONG LIST. Surely,I am not doing something.

I don't think there is another way. In PLAY,you can choose a Midi or audio, taking you to the USB folders. That is all right unless you have many many songs, and that is what a SONG LIST is for. In PLAY,no problem. In SONG LIST mode, where I have play lists,no such controls are present.

It is no biggy, just go to MENU first after loading your song to bring up LYRICS,and hit PLAY. I am just spoiled by the Pa4X. I must say, however,I am liking the SX for many things, and am happy with it. When in Rome and all that.

Thanks Donny
FOR ME, it is just what I want, being able to play CDG and great sound with very good internal speakers. The same to you,my friend. As you have said,we are to to have something that meets our needs,or out it goes.

Bernie, I have not touched that area yet. Ed downloaded the Reference manual, I did, it is a big help.

Bernie, My SX is packed for tonight, but I seem to remember a shortcut icon at the bottom of the screen that can be set to "lyrics"

I have the reference manual.
Thanks UD. Let me know if you find something. As it is, I took the SX out to Karaoke today, and the work around was fine, only because I had plenty of time.

I just set one of the programmable buttons to "Lyrics" and whatever CDG is loaded, you can just press the button and the lyrics appear. Same with Text files.

Thanks Don,

I must have missed that option while searching assignable choices.

The reference manuals does not mention that you can assign Text, Lyrics and Score to the buttons.

I had one button assigned to Text, another to Text + and another to Text -.
Also one for Lyrics.

"Page 111"

Fair point, must get new eyeballs.....

Strangely I have never actually looked at the screen shot on that page. Those specific functions are not mentioned in the list that follows even though the related + and - functions are there!

Actually they are there, but you have to scroll down quite a ways to find them. I must admit I didn't look at this before the question came up; I found it myself on the keyboard, I suppose because it was so important to me.
