I sequenced this on the G70, transferred the midi to the E-A7, had to change sounds from G70 , not found on the E-A7.

Then used the wave recorder on the E-A7..

Here is the G70 version (MP3) recorded into MixCraft. Bass, drums, EP, organ, two saxes (counter line), jazz guitar.

Fran, I love the song. You did a good job with your Ea7, your arrangement brought me back to the big band days.

Thanks, John C.

Any thoughts on the comparison E-A7 vs G70?

I feel the G70 is "warmer" , less "digital" sound..
Keep in mind the E-A7 is a wave recording and the G70 is an Mp3 recording.

I know when I play side by side, I enjoy the G70 over the E-A7, but that could be other factors (key feel, and use to the G70 for years).

What do you guys/gals think?

Honestly love the organ on the G70..
but the overall mix sounded very empty to my ears.
I took the opportunity to do a quick remix..
see what you think..

First off, what a marvelous arrangement of a classic. The guitar comping is SO realistic and really drives the piece. I indeed really enjoyed the G70 organ punches. The EA7 version sounds very much like a big band. The sax parts sound more like a Sax section ensemble playing. The G70 version sounds more like a combo playing. I have to hand it to the G70 version because it really has an impact. Again, the organ punches, really are effective and catches my ear. The piano solo in the G70 version is much more impact because it sounds so realistic. Very well played.
I think both versions pay homage to two very excellent instruments. I would be very happy with either or both keyboards.
Let us not forget the excellent arrangement and execution of a classic tune. Thank you very much for a very enjoyable performance.

May I ask what chords are you using to go to the bridge of the tune? Also what are the pick-up chords leading into the verse? Both sections are very creative and pleasing to my ear.

Donny it sounds like you used izotope mastering essentials in MixCraft and also compression.

Two things I should mention. I wanted to hear what came from the keyboards and comparison, without mastering effects..

Although your version of adding mastering effects sounds great in terms of volume levels and stereo separation, the compression takes away "dynamics", losing that "live" sound..

When played through a good sound system or good headphones, you can hear what I am talking about..

So what about the comparison of the E-A7 vs G70.

I used different organ, bass, sax, guitar and drums.. And the solo sax was different.

I did use just a tiny bit of compression ...
but NO mastering tools at all..
& just a 2db & a 15786Hz bump to make it sound cleaner..
It just sounds fuller to my ears now..

I redid the E-A7 recording, leaving room for Rhodes improvisation..

I changed the organ sound, and opened up areas for Rhodes piano (I was halfway thru before I felt like I got in the groove, but I think you get the idea)

I liked the Rhodes sound slightly better, but that organ you replaced was also really good. Thanks for sharing, love to hear the pros.
