That SKX has everything you could want in a Hammond. Pedal Sustain would be a big feature for me and twin extravoice sections. WOW Just add a drum machine.

Maybe it's just the choice of registrations or maybe it's just the player, but I was grossly under-impressed with the (Hammond) sounds of the SKX. I do agree with bill about having sustain on the bass pedals. I don't remember the exact number but I think I paid about $5-600 to add that (aftermarket) feature to my old C3. That was a lot of money back then. In summary though, this would not be my first choice in a organ-oriented keyboard. This is based strictly on my impression of the overall SOUND of the instrument. JMO.

good points chas......seeing him reach and search underneath the yamaha for drawbars is whay I hate a double tier setup...so annoying and in the way of my playing and singing....I'm a single kb man !!

I think it was the registrations. Upon first losten I thought it sounded like sort of a dated style of setup, almost rheatre organ. Never having played one I'm still sure it could be tweaked ro have that full gritty Hammond sound we all love.

Chas I also added sustain to my B3. A NovaIV unit which gave me sustained bass sounds for both the pedals and lower manuels with a volume controlled separate output. Tried ot find that organ after I sold it but no luck. Long time ago Also had a Model A which belonged to an organ tech and it had everything Trek II made in it. That too went to a church Shortly after heard the church flooded but the organist saved the A and took it home.

Yeah Bill, and it took a gazillion years for Hammond to figure out that was a feature most organists wanted. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't it appear on spinet organs (and other brands) before it was added to modern B's and C's? Unless you're a classically traind heel and toe guy on the level of a Barbara Dennerlein (who strangely plays all 'toe' - at least when playing jazz), it is almost impossible to play a nice 'walking bass' with just pedals (with no sustain).

I had sustain on my Thomas organs for pedals and upper/lower...let's see that was early 70's
