Guess still a bit on topic as regards the discussion about the merits of the Ketrons. As this month the weather here in Holland and surrounding countries has been truly appalling I have been confined to the indoors more than I would like. On the bright side it has given me time and incentive to record a lot of songs to compile yet again a CD for friends and acquaintances....
And it won't come as a surprise to any of you familiar with my recent postings that most of those songs have been recorded with either guitar or piano. But the arranger has not been completedly overlooked. Here is a song recorded on the Ketron SD7 and of course rather familiar to most of you.....

Hi John, that song is unfamiliar to me , but I enjoyed it non the less. Very nice sounds too! Thanks for sharing your music with us, and hope the weather clears up soon in Holland.

Love it, John. Almost sounds like something I would hear in Key West, Florida. Great style and clear, crisp vocal. Had I heard you sing this a decade ago I would have learned it ASAP - it's that kind of song! Nice!

John, really nice job on this song ... SD7 sounds really good, and good job with the harmonies ...
I looked up the song and found it was written and originally recorded by Jackie DeShannon and then by "The Searchers" ...

SIDE NOTE: The song was released the day I was married ... smile

Very good John. Liked the style and voicing.
As an Dutch ex-pat (1961) I can relate to the dreary days cooked up in a 3rd story flat in North Rotterdam with neighbors complaining about my loud piano playing. That was many, many years ago. Enjoying the sunshine now in SW Arizona.

Thanks guys.

Tony, you beat me to it. I would have thought the original was quite familiar to most here, but apparently that was not the case. The version by the Searchers was quite popular here in Western Europe, certainly in the UK and Holland. They had a massive string of hits ( "Sweets for my sweets ", etc) and continued for a very long time. I saw them perform in London in 1980 when they had re-united with virtually all of the original members. But as late as 2009 they were still performing live with, to the best of my knowledge, two of the original gang.

As regards my version on the Ketron SD7, kudos also to my good friend Carlo who lives quite some distance apart and to whom I always send by material for perusal and for "mastering " .....
It would sound definitely less impressive without his touch of magic.....

Gerry,
I know it can get very hot in your neck of the woods which would be hard for me to stomach, but on the other hand these Dutch "winters " ( no longer freezing cold, but incessant wind and rains) get on my nerves. The only positive to come out of it is that you feel less inclined to go for a walk on the beach
(only 2 kms from where I live) , stay home and make music smile

regards,
John

Yup - that song never reached huge fame here in the states ... at least not in my circles. First time I ever heard it was in a mashup from "Stars on 45"
That said - nice job, John. One comment - when you trigger the harmony - your lead vocal disappears, and moves much farther back in the mix. Maybe take a listen to that section again. Your lead was crystal clear all the rest of the time.

Sounds very nice John, Sd7 sounds so live, especially this particular type of styles, is that “Country beat or Country ballad. In Bangkok, Thailand where I was originally from we listen to a lot of music from Europe as much as Americans music, I love the Seachers as well, thank you.

I know Dave, with hindsight I should have omitted using the TC Helicon harmony unit ( cause that is what you are hearing and not the Ketron vocaliser). But That's how it came out in the final mix that Carlo made and we had spent too much energy on it to change it again....

John
