Hello guys,

finally I started to make my videos with HD camera (bought a used camera for $67), as I figured that good old ones 640*480 pixels are a bit obsolete. But it takes my PC more than an hour to save 5 minutes of full HD video (1920*1080).

Anyway, while I was testing my new camera (Nikon P520) I took some videos of my city (my English teacher told me not to call it a "town"). I know that I could take more pleasant scenes, especially within shopping molls, but I wanted to show it as it usually is.

For backing music I played some electric piano on my Juno DS:

I find scenes of everyday Russia most interesting in its similarity, yet uniqueness. The music was very tasteful as a background. Thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed your video of your city. I am curious though, does everyone there live in apartments or are there some single family homes?

Kabinopus, very unique look at Russia, one of the few countries I never visited. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.

It is the right question :-) Mostly people live in apartments, but there're options. My city is relatively new, about 80 years old. That's why it reflects the wave of the Soviet industrialisation. It's very pragmatic in its core. Even its name "Elektrostal" means "Electric steel", because there's a factory which started to produce steel with the help of electricity (I'm not an engineer, so it's how I can describe it).

But the city next to mine is much older, so it has less big buildings and more private houses. Living in a private house is surely a more private way of life. But it involves taking care of all things (gas, electricity, water, etc.), it's usually farther away from your job, and mainly it costs more, nevertheless such things as "townhouses" are rather popular here as well.

The answer is that the majority of Russians does live in apartment houses. And even this option is rather pricey for them. It's usually problematic for children to move out from their parents, unless they are moving to someone who already has some extra space, this is how some people become... committed :-)
