A good friend here works at a golf course as a starter/ranger. Called today and wanted me to play. I asked him if the course would allow people their own golf cart, I would pay the cart fee. He said "no way, we'd run out of carts in an hour. " Even if I trusted who I was with, you never know who is a carrier of this mysterious disease. Of course he went on to say how many people have recovered ( with possible lung damage for life ) and we only have 50 cases here in Bueafort County. I know he thinks I'm being a big wuss but I just can't see any reason to take the chance for a free round of golf.
Be smart and safe.

At least two courses here in RI are allowing each player a cart ... of course it's not 70 degrees yet either ( today more like 45 frown ), ...

I've been a Ranger for the past year at the club where I was previously a member.
We are open with quite a number of restrictions.
Only members can play, no guests.
One person to a cart.
Driving range closed.
Club house closed.
Only start after the group ahead has cleared the green, which means longer between tee times.
No private carts.
Carts are cleaned and disinfected after each usage.
Do not touch the flag pole. All short putts are "gimmies".
And, as always, don't lick your balls. smile

I marshal once a week for four hours and in return get to play free. For the past three weeks weather has prevented me from having to go. They called and said we don't have to come if we feel we are at high risk, so I'm thinking I won't go at all until it's over.
Our city courses are closed, but the private clubs remain open at this time, all with similar restrictions.

Don
Great rules and I would feel OK if they implemented them here. I'm thinking the courses will be closed soon, Damn they closed the Beaches ! The beach thing is a result of the Spring Breakers going nuts in Georgia so they don't wnat any big crowds migrating here.
Another friend works at another course and said he disinfected 37 carts one morning then went inside the garage to do some other work Came out and they were almost all gone so I guess the management is more concerned with the $$$. No more single carts.

George Carlin once asked why dogs do this .... then he answered himself - BECAUSE THEY CAN!

I'm new to golf started last September. I enjoy it so far but if I never played another rounda again I wouldn't really care. Ok I digress, here in The Villages the standard now seems to be each player take their own golf cart or you can walk the course with a hand cart. In my neighborhood there is a weekly golf scramble. People are still playing in the weekly scramble. I don't enjoy golf enough to put myself to take the risk.

And to quote Don "Do not touch the flag pole. All short putts are "gimmies".

Most people who live here own golf carts whether they golf or not since it doubles as a mode of transportation so there isn't a problem of enough carts to go around.
