Currently Arranger-less & in a crunch had to sell my PA 4x...Was gonna reorder one yesterday & guess what? The credit limits for Company I use went down OVERNIGHT from 4k to 3k because of the crisis. PA 4x 76 is now priced out of budget. Gonna get the PA 1000 and accessories which takes you to 3k...I've come to grips with the budget....

BUT, I think it is in the Master plan..I wanted speakers since we are all at home and grandkids are at that age to appreciate music.

Plus as a Songwriter I know the new instrument has songs in it waiting for me to create. Songwriting WILL BE THE MAIN FUNCTION...

My question is...what will I miss?

It looks like no E-5 foot switch input which I still have...So no foot pedal at all for fills?

I'm sure keybed is different as I had a 76...

Will I miss too much?

Buying sight unseen and I'm sure I'll find out more...But my main use is as a SONGWRITER ...

Any deal breakers I should consider?

Steve,
I am a 4x owner, and like you, I thought the 1000 would be a suitable "baby" version. I can only speak for myself, but I was very unimpressed with the 1000. I WANTED to love it, but just didn't. The keybed was squishy .... not even as good as my PA900, and I had serious doubts about letting others play it for fear they'd press too hard and damage the keys. The overall sound was good, but not stellar. The lack of an EC5 jack presented issues for triggering certain effects. The 1/4" jack didn't work as I wished for harmony trigger either. One good improvement is the touch screen. It's as responsive as my iPads. I hated the color ... and I usually LOVE all things red - in any shade. This one is more plum than burgundy, and it just matches ..... well, NOTHING. I hate to poo poo on your upcoming decision, but you asked. The harmonizer is on par with the 900, but not the 4x. The build quality of the case is about the same as the 900, but again .... the 4x is a solid, roadworthy beast. My biggest concern was the keybed, and the sound system just didn't have the "wow" factor for me. To be honest - except for the screen, I preferred my 900 over the 1000. Just my thoughts - your milage may vary. Good luck with your choice.

I had the 4X (a couple times) and a 1000. The 1000 is a very good board, but the keys are nowhere near the 4. The girth is very large and I felt was more difficult to transport. As a piano player your are, not sure you would like the keys. A lot of guys on here love the board though.

Not to get in trouble again for asking a question, but where are you getting this info?

Hi Zuki,
Bachus mentioned something about it on one of the sd7 threads, not sure which one.
Maybe check Korg forums, Ithink that’s where he mentioned he heard some chatter.

There's ALWAYS something new on the horizon ...
My advice: do your research and make a decision based on what's available today. Nothing is promised for tomorrow. Not just now - that's always the way it's been.

I did like the keys on the 1000, but I don't like heavy keys.
I never got it to sound like I wanted it to sound. I missed many of the controls on the 4x.
The VH was o.k., but not nearly as good as 4x.
I really tried to like it but never came to terms with it. I had the 900 sounding better, but maybe it was just me.
Scott Yee LOVES the 1000.
No doubt it's a fine arranger, and if I hadn't previously had the 4x, I might have kept it longer.

So I lost the Superstar model (PA 4X)...Now what do I replace her with?

Potential Lifetime Partner? (TOTL Arranger) Just like a life partner I ain't got the money for a top end anything...I AIN'T LOOKING TO GET LOCKED DOWN

Steady Girlfriend...PA 1000, OR YAMAHA SRX 900..Knowing she ain't the top model but is close enough & better yet, I can afford her...I would have no problem walking away from her

Booty Call, CHEAP & always available........YAMAHA SRX 700 ? YAMAHA BK 5 ? EA7....PA 700 ??? etc etc....

Hi Rikki,

Yes, I remember Bachus' info and I haven't checked in at the other forum yet, but no hurry anyway. I have my hands full trying to return the DOA recorder I bought arggg. More interested in recording these days instead of learning another board (although I am interested in the EA-7). I think I'm just bored smile
