Just a quick note to remind myself, and others of the reality of streaming and/or making money on line. As someone who plays 99.9% covers of copyright owned music - there is virtually NO WAY to earn any money on YouTube. I don't know the entire situation, but the few videos I do have posted all have received a message that I am not entitled to monetization due to performing rights. I imagine if you post a lot they may even take down the videos that offend.
I admit, talking and singing into that little box (my phone) is a kind of novel approach (at least for me), but give me a live audience ANY DAY. It's fun to do, when situations necessitate it, but unless you create your own content, and get LOADS, and loads of views - the chance of making any money is almost 0.
Still ... my fans seem to enjoy the streams, and my virtual tip jars have generated a few days pay, so I bought a better plug in (ios) mic for my phone, and little LED light and a tripod/selfie stick that holds all three - just to make the streams as good as they can be without breaking the bank. The total cost was less than the tips received, so I took a shot. Here's the stuff I bought:
