I was never a huge Glen Campbell fan but below is a video I never get tired of watching. He's surrounded by plenty of talent. He's got some of the best watching including Willie, Roy and Chet whose eyes are popping out at Glen's solo.

He was a member of the Wrecking Crew, a group of the most talented studio musicians that played on 100s of top 40 songs in the 60s and 70s.

Tommy Tedesco who was from my area was also a member. I was at a musician's dinner where he was the guest speaker and performer. He had some great stories to tell. That was him on the "Bonanza Theme".

Glenn even regarded Tommy as having great playing skills.

Thanks, Stephen:

I used to play golf with his uncle from time to time and he was sure proud of Glen. At the time (late 60's) he was really making musical waves. The ebb and flow of people in the music biz is phenomenal and hearing the ease with which they played, performed, wrote... and handled life on the road amazes me. Thanks for the memories and for sharing. Hope you are doing well. ----Dave

Thanks Stephen
Great memory.

I was certainly no country fan back in the 60’s /70’s, but Glen Campbell , I could have listened to , all day long.

I've always been a huge Glenn Campbell fan. And, from my perspective he was very underrated, especially as a player, where the public is concerned.

My favorite song was one he wrote and performed for the movie True Grit, in which he co-stared with John Wayne. I have likely seen that movie a dozen times and loved every minute of the production each time I saw it.

I recorded my rendition of True Grit in 2017, shortly after my retirement. I have recorded many, many others as well from 2014 through 2017.

All the best,

Gary cool

Yep, I agree, and I recorded it in January of 2016 on the S-950 using an onboard style, with no edits - just a one shot deal. I was always able to fill a dance floor with this song. Hell, I guess I'm just an old country boy at heart. Sure wish I could sing like I did back then. frown

Here's my rendition of By The Time I Get To Phoenix
