First of all as regards Dave's Ketron SD7 recordings: in as far as they are recorded directly from the line out of the SD7 they sound anything but lackluster and far superior to "Testing, 1,2,3 " ( Roland G70 ) for starters. No wonder that both Donny and Don were initially vying for pole position to get his SD7 once he has been able to take delivery of the SD60.
Also this Mediastation track does not impress me at all. The string section saves the recording, the accompaniment is horrible both in sound and in monotony. Simply dreadful.....

John did you get out of the wrong side of bed?
First the tracks that were in discussion are older MP3 tracks of other gear.
If you recall I told you to go for the SD7 via our email. I am a firm supporter of Ketron.
My example of the MS is not to showcase the track seq.. but to show the pristine sound quality.. (apparently many folks here can't hear :))
And my testing 1,2,3.....is showing me a lot about SZ

John...In no way was I ever interested in another SD7 after owning two of them in the past, Dave's, or anyone elses for that matter. It is a very nice arranger KB but just not for my needs.

John, I was the one to admit that the older sequences and tracks were created to sound good on older units, with EQ and balance based on the speakers in those units. Fran was echoing something I said, not slamming me. The performance I did with the sequences were recorded with the Shure MV88 mic on my iPhoneX, not direct. I've had a lot of time to fiddle with options, and come May - I will be broadcasting in the best way I am able, with what I own at the moment. I've harnessed most of the gremlins that have plagued my process thus far, and I'm excited to move on.

Do you mind sharing with us exactly what that is, Fran? I, for one, can't figure it out ...
BTW, with all this discussion about what sounds good or not, I've said for years that the beauty of any sound is in the ear of the beholder ... no two people hear sound the same ...

Hi Fran,
In a way I did I guess. I may have misunderstood the context of your mail here, if so I apologise. As Tony so rightly says Sound is in the ear of the beholder... I thought it was kind of funny to realize that the four "D" s, (Donny, Don, Dave and Deane) are either playing a Ketron or were having second thoughs about having one again. Apparently this is not true for Donny as he just stated so I stand corrected. ( although the Lord knows what else he could try again once he has flogged the T4). And Don stated he had made an offer to Dave, that leads/led me to assume he is again interested....I just thought that kind of funny really, nothing more nothing less. And by the by, I know Fran you shared with me your thoughts on the Ketrons and they were predominantly positive.
P.S. seems my creative flow over the last few months has come to an abrupt end due to an incident with massive mike feedback, so there won't be any new songs or videos in the near future....alas....
John,.. I have owned and performed with All Ketron units including the Midjay, since the X1 except for the Audya for some unknown reason. No offer has ever been made to Dave for his SD7. I hope you get the feedback? issue sorted and start recording again as soon as possible. Try not to assume too much of what is said on SZ.. Good luck with your music..

I'm certainly not interested in another SD7, since I tried it twice, plus the SD40, and found that although they are certainly great arrangers, they don't suit my needs as well as others do. The EA7 is doing just fine right now. Perhaps after the virus has abated I would look at something new if it comes out, maybe Korg or, less likely Roland, but no hurry to make any changes at this time. I'm not even playing what I have much.

Wait - WHAT? I know of no such offer. Don would have called me directly if he was interested. This KB is too long for his permanent stand setup, and the weight is prohibitive as he approaches mid-life.

"Asparagus & Kale are notorious for making urine smell like sulfur after you eat it. This is because our bodies convert the asparagusic acid it contains into sulfur-containing chemicals. These chemicals leave the body through urine, causing the distinct sulfur smell."

Gosh Dave, judging by your pictures I wouldn't have picked you for a 'veggie' guy.....unless they were WELL-SEASONED with salt pork .

There's gonna' be a lot of broken scales by the time this virus thing is over. Try putting a tape measure around that gut once a week and oh yeah, check your full-length mirror when you step out of the shower. But hey, maybe by the time 'The Greatest Loser' airs again, you'll be able to qualify . Better join Uncle Dave and hit those veggies....just leave off his cheddar cheese sauce .
