Does the kn7000 also support Sd memory cards from other firms or does it only support sd memory cards from Panasonic ?

Hi Alain; I'm pretty certain, though Panasonic (Matsushita) patented the SD (secure digital) memory card 'format', that other brands of SD memory cards should work on the KN7000 as well.

who needs 512 MB until the prices come down? these are still the cutting edge premium cards.
128 MB about $80 64 MB about $40. Do a search on my old posts here for sd card info and what sizes you may need for various functions.

Tiger Direct's latest flyer has 128Meg cards at $69.99. They continue to come down in price.

I assume the KN7000's audio (WAV, MP3, or?) files (recorded from the mic) are stored on the SD Memory card, right? As a vocalist, I want to be able to record & play back my vocals along with the midi sequences, so wondering 'how much' space is used when storing 'audio'. How many minutes of digital audio can be stored on a 128mg SD card vs 512mg card? I guess depending on the current price for a 512mg card, getting multiple 128mg cards might be a more economical alternative. Thanks - Scott

you record cd quality wave to your pc with the supplied software.

then you can convert to mp3 or wma with the supplied software.

then you can send to the card through the supplied software or use the card reader.

you can certainly play along to your previous mic performance, or guitar input etc recording.

if 128 kbits encoding is good enough for you on mp3, then 1 MB is roughly 1 minute of stereo digital audio. For 96 or 64 encoding this decreases MB and increases time as you lose relative quality.

Hi Alec, thanks for your clarification. Sounds like a 128mg SD card should be sufficient for on board KN7000 audio file storage needs. Great to hear that you can easily send both the KN7000's sequencer tracks (as audio) along with vocals, directly to your PC to record as a WAV file (with supplied software) and then be able to transfer it back to the SD Card as a MP3 file, for playback on the KN7000. What a great way to have the KN7000 act as a MP3 player during breaks. I assume the KN7000 will let you customize MP3 song playlists too, right? Does the KN7000 also support WAV format file playback, or just MP3? Either way, I'm getting really excited about the prospects of owning a Technics arranger keyboard again.

yes, I think the whole point is you have the choice to play along to an orchestral recording, rather than a style if that's what you want to do, or just play a background mp3 while setting up, getting your music out etc without having even lifted the panel yet.

Based on the above discussion, a few questions/observations. If 7000 tracks, along with vocals or guitar parts are sent to a PC, could you then edit parts or remix, e.g., levels, panning, EQ, etc. on the PC, resave, then send it back to the 7000 for playback? In other words, do some micoediting to get the parts balanced like a finished CD? Also, will the 7000 play wav or mp3 files that have been created on outboard gear, such as stand-alone digital recording devices?
