Steve calls me his RI 'brother' and calls Randy his Florida 'brother' ...
Well, his 'brothers' collaborated on this great Michael Frank's song ...
I laid down the track just using the 'Cool Latin Bossa' (if I remember that right) and a couple of multi pads, and did the vocal over it ... I then sent it to Randy who worked his saxophone magic and there you have it ...
I have to give a giant THANK YOU to Randy, because his playing made all the difference in the world to this recording ...

Hey my brother's Randy and Tony! Loved with the sneak preview I got last night then again this morning. Excellent work, kudos to you both. My wife also loved it, I played it back for her while we were sitting on our golf under the shade of a tree near our local coffee shop while we sipped Cappuccinos. cool smile

One of my all time favorite artists is John Klemmer (Touch) and I would listen to the "Touch" album over and over again. This composition weighs in at equal to the quality of John Klemmer's best recording.... The vibe of the tune, creates an incredible mood and spirituality for me to relax and experience my special mental sanctuary.

This is a huge composition/rendition of a tune and is exceptionally well done. I absolutely loved the tune and the musicianship is second to none. Very Very well done. It touches my inner spirituality.

Thank you.

Hi Tony and Brother Steve! Yep, it was a fun collaboration with my northern Bro! Tony did a super job with the Korg on that song - perfect style and pads! And the vocal was "right on"! So it was a fun project for me to add a little icing to his cake.

Thanks also Tony for giving me the "kick" I needed to get off my duff and get the recording stuff working again. Got me a new mic and had a blast getting it cooking with the sax.

It was an honor and a pleasure! Thanks to all for the listens and the kind words on our joint endeavor!

Wow Salsaman - thanks so very much for the inspiring words to both of us! And I am always happy to meet another John Klemmer fan! I majored in music (in part) due to John's "Touch" album. I learned and frequently played many of his tunes through the 80's. Loved his "My Love Has Butterfly Wings"! Wow what an amazing vibe his music was in my 20--something old ears and he definitely inspired me to learn the sax. So thanks for such a wonderful sentiment as John Klemmer has always been a hero to me.

Glad you liked Tony's cool arrangement and vocal stylings and the sax that I put in to bolster his wonderful song!

Well, THANK YOU ALL first for taking the time to listen, and then for the very kind responses ... I think that whenever someone posts some music here on SZ there is some apprehension as to how it will be received, after all the 'acceptance gene' is part of the musicians DNA, is it not ? wink
But although we all have own particular musical taste, I was fairly confident in this one if only because of Randy's beautiful accompaniment ...

Salsaman, thank you for those beautiful words ... the song itself is GREAT, but to think that our performance gave you those feelings almost brought a tear to these old eyes of mine ...
Thank you all, again ...

Wow, you even got a compliment from the captain!

But seriously, that was really nice. Iā€™m not only impressed with the musicianship but also that you both have the technological skills to pull this sort of recording off. Anyways, hope to hear more from you two.

Made my day a lot better. I only wish I had that musicianship at the ends of my fingers as well.

Great job, guys,

Russ, Paul and Gary - on behalf of Tony and myself, thanks so very much for the listens and your kindness! Yes, it was definitely fun to collaborate - been a long while since I did any long-distance participation and it was great having Tony's wonderful recording to work with.

One of the reasons I always loved (still do) listening to Michael Franks' work was the wonderful sidemen he employed on his projects. Loved hearing the creativity he and they displayed. A unique artist with a plethora of unique and interesting recordings for sure.

Thanks again Tony and to all who listened and commented on our project - looking forward to doing this again very soon!

IMAGINE THAT !!! wink

Seriously, thank you Russ, Paul, and Gary ...

It was fun putting the background track together, even though it was basically just the style and some multi pads to add some percussion effects - such as the 'rain stick' ...

For this project, since I was only using the KB, I wanted to make sure the mix was as right as I could get it ... I had one recording which I sent to Randy, and he sent it back with a 'sample' of his work ... listening to that we felt the 'band' needed to be a little more up front, so I did another recording ...
Randy then made an edit of the track, dropping 2 measures in two spots that weren't necessary, and proceeded to record his track, so it really was a collaborative effort ... And the more 'technical' part of the project was on Randy's end ... Thanks again Randy ...

And a big thanks again to all who listened and commented - even privately - ... and if anyone has any suggestions as to how it might have been improved (other than replace the vocalist) I would appreciate hearing them ...

Can't wait to do another ...
