Many years ago Diki posted this he had played when Joe Zawinul from Weather Report died. I have loved this track since I bought the Heavy Weather album back in the 70s. Until Diki posted his tribute to Joe Zawinul I had never heard anybody else cover this. It is from so many years ago but I love it so much I have always kept a copy of it at Synth Zone. It is pure magic. Was this played on the G70 ? http://www.synthzone.com/songs/diki/Zawinul.mp3

I've never heard this tune before, relaxing piece og music.
Great playing regardless of what keyboard used when play.
Thank's for sharing. 🎵🎹

Yeah, that was the G70...

Thanks for remembering it!

There’s a few things I miss from my G70, especially the touch screen interface and the extra LWR Part, but what I gained with the BK-9 so massively outweighs it that there’s just no comparison, IMHO. I know Fran still swears by his, but I can’t imagine life without a Chord Sequencer (when there’s a choice!) or those amazing SN guitar sounds...

If you go back and listen to Weather Report’s original, please don’t be too unkind! I hadn’t heard the original for years when I rattled that one off!

If you enjoyed this, please drop in on Roland-Arranger.com’s Renditions sub forum here: http://www.roland-arranger.com/index.php/renditions

I have a few more recent things up there using the BK-9 plus some tunes from other members...

(Nigel, if you want to snag any of mine to add to your archive, feel free!)

Here is Weather Report playing the track live. Brilliant. And I think you will find that Diki's piano interpretation to capture the spirit of the tune truly is great work. A very ambitious undertaking covering this jazz supergroup.

Jaco... ❤️❤️❤️

What a loss. Never saw him live, saw Zawinul at New Orleans Jazzfest back in 2000. Genius! And the loudest jazz group I ever heard LOL 🤯

I saw this lineup live in Melbourne Australia in 1976 on the Heavy Weather tour ... simply unbelievable. Because Jaco could move around the stage he was the focal point for the show and drew the audience in.

Absoluteley. Jaco is a musical legend. Every project he was involved in is total magic.

I also loved his work with Joni Mitchell. Here is the Shadows & Light concert that includes Joni, Jaco, Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays. Joni's music is such a great vehicle for him. Here is the full concert.

Wow! Weather Report at their zenith, Nigel. Heavy Weather really put fusion on the charts...

And I’ve loved that Shadows set since it first came out. That’s how you do concert films right! Joni knew how to put a backing band together 😎

Joni is a musical gem. Love her so much. So sad for her current medical problems. I can never forget her.

Jaco always performed musical magic. And I love the way he shuffles around the stage as he plays.
