Hi ,

Do the expansions packs come with a purchase of a SX 900? How many can be stored?

What packs would you recommend for a Latin variety act ? We do all the popular styles including, salsa, merengue, bachata, reggaetón, cumbia,
nortena/polka, banda, mariachi y mucho mas !

Maybe Manuel Durantes could chime in?

The SX-900 is pre-loaded with 4 expansion packs
African
Europe
Latin America
Oriental

Yamaha has now made many expansion packs available for free including Fiesta Caliente 2, you can listen to samples and a list of styles, voices and pads for this pack, and I believe Manny was involved with assembly.

I currently have 11 expansion packs loaded, and the limit is 1GB, and I think I'm close to that limit.

Thanks Larry. I think my 950 only hold one pack. Are the expansion packs free or sold separately?

Hello friends

The good news are that most of the Expansion Packs for the PSR S/PSR SX are FREE....(Files in PPF or CPF are Genos and Tyros5 w/FL512 or FL1024 are compatible), of course, using the Yamaha Expansion Manager.

Regarding how many packs you can load in the PSR SX900 Flash memory, it will depend on the size of the packs you may want to install....

Personally I have installed around 12 packs or more, couple that I made included, of course, I included the Latin packs...Banda, Mariachi-Norteño, Cumbia Latina, Salsa, Mexico, Fiesta Caliente1, Fiesta Caliente2, Colors of Iberia2, the new pack soon to be released Latin Romance, plus others....

Literally you can see it like you installed another keyboard into the PSR SX900 with all the packs.

Make sure you have the keyboard with the latest firmware and if you just did it, then get the Instrument Info again, and also make sure you have the latest YEM Version and if you had it, make sure you replace the previous Instrument Info, and install the new(updated) Instrument info into the YEM.

I suggest that when you make a Installation Pack (PPI or CPI) please, do not use the PQI or the CQI, anyway, now the regular PPI or CPI does not longer take a long time to make, and works perfect every time.

My 2 Cents...

Manuel

Really looking forward to add that one too Manuel. 👍
Many great styles in the Fiesta Cliente packs, myself I'm having a great time every time I find some Mexican ballads that tend to the TexMex style.
As an example when, listen to Ry Cooder's album 'Chicken Skin Music', I simply love it!!
Not bad for an Norwegian, eh?

Yes, Manuel Durantes has produced amazing regional Mexican styles which I use often. We’re fortunate to have him as a SZ member.

Thank you very much Montunoman, but much of the credit goes to my friend and Style Master, Chris Anthony.
I provide many references and he gets inside and makes the style and we check and like I said sometime before,
this the result of Team work, there are more people like Mr. B. Israel, people in YCA & YCJ, etc.....

I hope you enjoy the up coming packs.

Looking forward to those packs. And thanks to you and the team for
really fantastic work. Not only with styles and sounds, but also multi pads.

Curious, will the new packs also be free?

Hello Friends

Regarding if the upcoming Expansion Pack been free.....assuming that nothing has change in YCJ, will continue to be free (I hope so).
I forgot to mention, if you can, put special attention to the Multipads, we have work very hard to make them useful and interesting, and also (so far), I have been able to use them with ANY style not matter if is factory or from a different expansion pack....Also I have put attention to the OTS not just assigning voice but a secondary second voice even if is not activated, and also is you push the keyboard Harmony button will (hopefully) work appropriate.

My 2 cents.

Manuel
