Must have been smoking weed....except that I don't smoke weed. Anyhow, I'd certainly play it a little straighter today. I think this was when I first got my Tyros 2 and Pa1x Pro because the 'sax' is definitely from the the Korg, the guitar from the Tyros, the trumpet from the Triton Classic, the piano from the Fantom G7, and the organ from the KeyB Duo Mk111. Drums may also be from the Pa1x, not sure. Back then I liked to experiment with different voices from different instruments; nowadays, I usually just keep it to organ, drums, and 'something else'. With old age comes laziness smile. I'm about to record this again but simpler and less 'jazzish'. Anyhoo, reminiscing is fun.

I don't think you would be capable of playing your version of ANYTHING I would not find interesting an enjoyable. And "Valentine" is in the top 5 f my tunes list.

Thanks!

Nothing weird about smoking a little weed as a " young and dumb" Kid!

That was beautiful Chas. Your trumpet and sax parts didn’t sound like they were played on a keyboard, so real.

Thanks Rikki. The trumpet is the 'ghosttown coronet' (or something like that - I'm not near it at the moment) from my ancient Triton Classic and the sax is a slightly modified (extra touch of 'verb) tenor sax from my ancient PA1x Pro. It's my brilliant playing technique that gives it the realism smile smile smile - joshing, joshing. Actually it's the same sax I used to make a quick clip for TonyMads to demo what I thought was a good sax voice.

Since (like me) you're stuck in the 40's, 50's, 60's, you may recognize it.

Have you taken a look at SWAM’s modeled saxes, Chas? Currently, I think they are about as good as can be done with a keyboard (although they do improve dramatically if you use a breath controller, of course!).

SWAM’s solo strings are also right up there. Their computer versions can be costly, but are very affordable in their iPad version…

Hi Chas,
I do sort of recognise the tune, but no idea what it’s called.

Modesty becomes you, haha.
Seriously though, I’ve obviously had some great sax, and trumpet sounds on my Korg Pa keyboards , including the PA 4x, BUT, I could never get that sort of realism in my sax/trumpet melodies.
No doubt you have to start with a reasonably good quality sound, but, tend to think it’s technique that really matters. You’ve got it.😁

Hi Diki,
I came across Swam modelled instruments a while back , when I was hunting for piano vst’s. I was trying to decide between sampled and modelled piano’s, and up popped Swam’s. Don’t know why because I was actually looking for piano.
But,
The demo’s sound awesome.
