Good Evening All.

I’m looking for any Solton / Ketron Styles from the Ms60 / Ms100 and the SD Range.

Would be most appreciated a lot of the old resources have disappeared.

Somewhere, I have a stack of Solton disks I got from A dealer in Seattle ( Petosa Music) about 20 years ago. Still have 2 MS-60's that work. Used them 4 nights a week for over 20 years.

I'm moving my office to a building I'm constructing. The move will be in October. The disks will show up, and I'll let you know. I only dumped one thing from one disk. The rest are still "new".

Be well,

Russ

Russ, when those old disks show up, it might be a good idea to source some brand new disks and copy the data. Old floppies can be a bit hit or miss!

I have some older (Year 2002 or 2003) 'Ketron Disk Library SD1'. Also the internal factory styles from SD1.
Tried seek info about it up at Ketrons site, but don't think the disks are availiable salesware anymore.
During the winter, if I blow the dust off of my old archive HD's, I most likely will find something more from the SD and X series.
It's quite a while since I had SD1 now..... amazing how the time flies! shocked cool

I’d recommend anyone with legacy styles on HD’s to burn a CD or data DVD of them. Properly handled and taken care of, they are a FAR more stable long term storage solution than HD’s, and readable on a wider range of devices…

Good point, although players just designed for data have almost disappeared, fortunately if it is a computer then you can buy a USB drive, otherwise you may be in trouble.
The easiest way these days is to store it in an SSD or USB stick formatted to FAT32, as this can be recognised by pretty much anything, and has great longevity.

I’ve had many SSD’s and USB sticks go bad. They are robust though in regular use. But most computer sites say they’re good for about ten years or so of reliability. As long as you don’t use them much.

Optical discs on the other hand, as long as handled properly are good for centuries.

Me, I’ve got style data and SMF’s that goes back to the early 90’s (as have many of us!). Admittedly, I doubt that I’ll need it in another 30 years, but hopefully I’ll outlast a ten year SSD!

Depends on the quality of the discs (Even big names have made some that won't last long, as for century's, there are a select few (Archival discs) that will last a seriously long time, but they are uber expensive and its unlikely your files are stored on them. (If you are not going to use them for another 30yrs, make sure you have a backup, as it unlikely that your discs will be readable in a much shorter time than that)
An SSD has a lifetime of reads/writes, if however, you are not using it that much (Just for storage) they could last for decades or more.
