This month's keyboard magazine has a review of the Technics SX-KN7000. It's great to see these arrangers reviewed in a mainline mag. Interestingly, last month they reviewed the Tyros, but in the article they compare the KN7000 to other keyboards in it's price class like the Motif, PA-80, VA-76
Any comments from KN owners?

There is also an interesting article on Chord leading and voicing -- check it out.

I kinda like the philosophy of the railroad people. They have been around a long time. Stop! Look! Listen! Then proceed with caution. It’s your life. It’s your choice. You make the move or you might be sorry. If the guy alongside of me says, ‘it’s OK, we can beat the train let’s go, I say, you go. For me? I’m stopped, I’m looking and I will now listen for the train and not to you. Now, as a KN owner here is my comment. I have stopped, I have looked and have listened. After having done all my homework I proceeded to act on my own assessment and now am enjoying the fruits my opinion and not that of others. Kind of like the little nobody who said the world was round and the big shot who ruled the holy roman empire and even claimed to speak for God said it was flat. So much for the opinions of the experts. Now as far as Ruthie goes, I have learned through the years that her opinion is one I should at least listen to. Listening to it seems to satisfy her until I can think of some way to modify it. So that’s my comments and I own a KN. Don’t know if that’s what you want to hear, but that’s me.

That's a good observation Grandpa Doug. Investigate the matter, and don't blindly follow the crowd for they just might lead you over a steep cliff in the process.

Best regards,
Mike

Thank you kbrkr for responding to my request to bring your post here from the general arranger forum where I saw it.

Thank you Al,
I'll keep an eye out for the mag. I haven't read it in years. It used to be responsible for me buying too many new pieces of equipment, ( haahaa)

best wishes

Right on, down home Doug. I guess it is human nature for folks to keep seeking some thing better, but when you get a bit older you kinda appreciate what you have. Tehcnics keyboards is like an old shoe..........hate like the devil to throw some thing away that feels soooooo good.

‘‘How ever ignorant a man may be,
from none disdainfully turn,
for each one does some thing know,
which you have yet to learn’’.
It could be you thought the KN7000,
or any keyboard, was your dream machine,
then some one points out some thing you may
have over looked, which could change
your whole attitude towards the KN7000,
or any other keyboard.
If you perceive some one is rambling on,
to make themselves appear knowledgeable,
just get up and walk away.

The Internet version of Keyboard Magazine has nothing on the KN7000. In fact nothing in the present, or archive on any Technics keyboard. Here is the link, but, in my opinion, if you don't have a Korg or a Yamaha, it's a waste of time http://www.keyboardmag.com/

Fred, some great stuff for pondering. Quote: “If you perceive some one is rambling on, to make themselves appear knowledgeable, just get up and walk away”. Now that’s good. Works great. Don’t have to listen to the rambling and get yourself aggravated any longer.

Used to do that, however I ran into a snag. When I came back the mouth was still spewing forth great swelling words of nothingness. Now instead of a ramble there was a choir of rumble with other voices joining in. Worse than before and even more aggravation. Now what? Get up and walk away for good? Good old Ruthie. She always inspires me. While mulling over this continuing phenomena I was watching Ruth watering the flower bed just outside my office window. The neighbor walking by saw Ruthie, stopped, and they started talking. Whatever they were yacking about seemed to get more interesting, so Rue laid the hose down and walked down the drive as her friend walked up. After awhile I noticed the water still running and was washing the dirt out of the flower bed and making a mess on the lawn. Ruthie, Ruthie, I thought, leaving the thing run and walking away is not the way it should be done. Babe, you will have a real mess when you come back. So getting up, going out and shutting off the flow at the spigot took care of the problem. Walking back in it hit me! Ruthie your a genius. That's it! Shut off the rambling at it’s source and it will stop. Brilliant! Works great! However every once in a while someone will open up their spigot without anything on the other end. So the moral of the story is there is always two sides to everything. Up and down. Left and right. Inside and outside. And . . . . walk away or turn it off.

A slant from Gramps. Always looking for a better way.

Thank you Larry for the link. The KN7 review I think is in the issue following the Tyros review. Online at the moment is the tyros, so the next issue I assume will have the kn7.
Be interesting to read it , though I doubt anyone will change my mind. It's a great machine, end of story.

best wishes

Hi kbrkr,
In the Techplus Magazine August 2002,
Alec Pagida gave a 7page detailed review of the
KN7000 which may be found interesting,
All the best
