Hi Everyone
Returning aafter caravaning for a few days I've done my usual check of e-mails forum messages web sites etc.
On visiting the Technics KN7000 web site I was a little surprised to notice - top left of home page that 'style reprise' and 'software' were still there, BUT the 'rom' had disappeared........
The $64,000 question is:- Is that good news, or bad news?????
John

John I have been thinking about that. I really don’t know one way or another. Sometimes I think it might be bad but then again it could be good. I remember my ma saying, ‘what you don’t know won’t hurt you’. Now that’s good! But then again she would say,’ curiosity can kill a cat’. Now that’s bad. Now, I have a system that seems to work most of the time. When I can’t seem to figure something out, or you might say, I come to the end of my rope, I ask Ruthie. That little gal seems to have an uncanny way of coming up with an answer that always works or at least pushes the problem into the background and no longer is of any consequence. So, resorting to my tried and true method of last resort I put your question to my Ruthie. Ruth, what do you think? Good or Bad? As her eyes glazed over a bit she said, ‘it’s ready’! It’s ready? Ya, and it’s nice and hot! Hot? Ya, the pot roast, potatoes and carrots, and lot’s of gravy. Let’s eat before it gets cold. Wow! Now that’s good.

This morning, I received a reply from Chris Whitehead at Technics UK.... QUOTE
"Hi Bill,
We will be releasing a version on the KN7000 website, however you can inform customers that if they are having problems with version 1.5 because they have Downloaded it from Taiyo or other sources we will not support them.

Best Regards
Chris Whitehead

Mmmmmmmmm
Makes me wonder how Panasonic Australia got a working SD version of the download on their site before Technics UK got off their horses rear end Maybe 'cos Technics were waiting for someone else to do the "donkey work"
Cheers

I requested an upgrade to version 1.5 from the 1.4 that came in my KN7 from the Technics rep, Eddie Williams. I sent him an email and it was here on two floppies in the mail 2 days later, installed and making music
Best to all

Hi to all of you who already used the 1.5 ROM Update. I asked this question a while ago and never did get an answer.

Does the ROM update address the SD percentage memory remaining problem. i.e. if you were showing a strange percentage and memory remaining figure prior to the update, are you now showing a TRUE memory remaining figure and percentage?

Hi Joan,
According to a posting on this thread : http://www.synthzone.com/ubbs/Forum25/HTML/001846.html
Version 1.5 is supposed to correct the following :
1. Bitmap pics for HOME page can now be selected.
2. SD-Card "%age free" is now corrected
3. Drum Track with transposed files corrected for use with MIDI out.
4. Audio files on SD-Card are all now recognised.
5. The SD-Card Control File will no longer be corrupted
6. Corrections to Technichords which either don't work or produce the wrong results e.g. "add9", "madd9"

Joan, I've tried version 1.5 with several (6) SD cards of different sizes and all report proper percentage remaining. I got version 1.5 from Technics USA about a month ago and so far, I can't find anything wrong with it. I don't understand the delay in the UK.

I should add that I do not use MP3 or Midi files with my SD cards. So I have not looked at those functions.

Thanks for the list Bill, I know what the Rom Update stated what it addresses, what I asked, or what I hoped I asked was whether in fact it did.

So Bob whilst you have told me that your SD cards are reading correctly, what I now want answering is whether they were reading incorrectly before the update. I suspect not, am I right? Joan

They were all incorrect before the update.

I just talked to Eddie Williams at Panasonic here in the USA and told him that I have had trouble with the SD Card INF file getting corrupted. He is sending the update disks and did not deny the problems. He does not know why Germany and then Australia got the updates first.
