I want to transfer all the audio files (200+) on one SD Card to another blank formatted SD Card without using SD Jukebox because my son has reformatted our computer and the connection between SD Jukebox and its CNC Data has been 'broken'. I know that the long way round is to re-record all the music back into SD Jukebox but I'm not sure I have the patience for that...chuckle.
Anyone any ideas?

Yes he's a nice lad really and it is his computer after all...
Actual fact I've got everything on this 512mb SD Card so I suppose I could upload it all off that Card back into SD Jukebox and then pop it into the 1 GB SD Card I've found that actually works with audio files...
But it's such a big risk to suddenly find that I haven't got the files either on the 512 or available in SD Jukebox...
Can't bring meself to do it just yet...

Sorry Rog but I don't think that one will work either. As I understand it you can only check the files back into the computer which has the original check out info and presumably that was lost when the computer was reformatted.

An alternative is to play back the files from the 512M card in the KN7000 and use the computer to re-record them using Audio Recorder or an alternative software package. There will probably be some degradation in quality but hopefully not enough to ba problem.

This idea may sound too simple for words but why not copy the complete SD card onto your PC then copy from PC to the new formatted 'empty' SD card. I've done it with one of my SD cards - but that didn't contain any Audio files. Worth a try.

If only it was that simple - but the SD Jukebox software encrypts the audio files somehow so that merely copying in the way you describe is unsuccessful - believe me I tried that one first off...chuckle...

It might be possible to do this using Fred Mellink's KN SD-Explorer Tool. It isn't very expensive and would save you literally hours of work. I suggest you get in touch with Fred, he'll soon tell you if it can be used. Sorry I do not use midi/audio files at all, so cannot tell you anymore than that.

Another person who could possibly help you is Bill Norrie. I think he has Fred's tool as and also uses midi/audio files.

I never use the Audio file option on the SD Card - it's not really of any interest to me. As far as I'm aware, Fred's tool will not copy the Audio files and I believe the only way is to use the 'Check-Out / Check-In' method, due to the encryption system involved.

If I remember correctly, Fred was working on adding Audio to the KN7000 Explorer Tool. He may shed some light and save you some work.

Bill is right, Fred's tool doesn't work with audio files. It will spend ages copying the audio data, but doesn't encrypt it, so it fills the card with a large amount of useless Junk!

You may want to take another route and thats to recover the data on your PC. Using a utility like Easy Recovery Professional you can recovery even formatted data as long as it has not been written on top of. Or you can go to a PC shop withj tech's and they can do the work foy you for a charge. Just because you format a drive does not mean the data is gone only the Operating system does not have it catalogued.
