I am getting ready to sell my upgraded KN6000 that is now a KN6500. I have a soft case that I got when I got a KN1000 many years ago. I sold the KN1000 and kept the case because I read the specs of the KN6000 and under options, I am most certain they listed the same case as was listed on options for the KN1000. I never had reason to use it and was going to sell it along with the KN6500. Weeeeeeeeeeell, I tried putting the keyboard in it and it won't fit. It is too short.
What I would like to know is: When did the keyboards get longer? I am aware that the KN6000 is about 4 inches shorter than the KN7000. I want to sell this case that has never been used and would like to know what keyboards it will fit. Perhaps the KN2000, KN3000 or KN5000 are shorter keyboards. I hope someone can help.

The 7000 and the 6000 are both about the same thickness at the back. the 800 and the newest model 2600 are thinner at the back. I can put the 800, and 2600 in the 6000 case but had to buy a bigger case for the 7000. Bebop
Since I no longer own the KN1000, I can't question the sizes you list, Technicsplayer but you are off on the height and depth of the KN6000/KN7000. I have both and I can state that my KN7000 is at least 1/2 inch higher than the KN6000. Your depth is also off by at least an inch by the KN7000 being bigger.
Being from the United States, we deal in inches and not cm. Your length on the two seems probably right.
kn7 - I agree with technicsplayer. Also in the back of my Technics sx-KN7000 operating instructions manual supplied with the keyboard all the specifications etc, are listed on pages 207/208.
DIMENSIONS (WxHxD) page 208 114CM x 17CM x 41CM (44 7/8" x 6.11/16" x 16 1/8")
There is also a footnote at the bottom of the total specifications
"Design and specifications are subject to change without notice"
According to both manuals that I have of the KN6000 and KN7000, you are correct by what the manufacturer states but the KN6000 is not that high. I just checked, again and it is just about 6-1/4 inches and not 7-7/8 inches.
Joan, you bring up a good point about manufacturers stating design and specifications may change without notice. Perhaps there were some changes made though that can be quite costly. I believe my KN6000 was a very early one. Nevertheless, mistakes are made in listings. Before buying the KN7000, on the KN7000 Canada website, here are the measurements given for the KN7000: 106.3cm x 20.0cm x 41.8cm (41-27/32" X 7-7/8" X 16-15/32") We know that they are wrong.
Another possibility of changes made. On eBay, there are many cases listed for the KN7000. Almost every seller states to be sure and check your KN7000 size to make sure it fits because there are no refunds. It is understandable that one would want to make sure a case is the right size for your keyboard but these listings are for the KN7000. One would think they would automatically fit. So, the question: Did the company make changes on these boards?

well that's obviously a typo left over from the 6000 specification
Agreed, but being able to download the page, which I did, looks just like it came from Panasonic. By that, it is odd they would make this mistake. What's it all mean - it means mistakes ARE made and this is getting away from my original question. Technicsplayer, you have pretty much answered what will and won't work in the case I want to sell. From the measurements you listed, the case will probably fit the one, two and three thousand models and possibly, the five.

no, the measurements are correct, the 6000/6500 display down is at least an inch higher than the closed 7000 measured at centre rear.
I stand corrected. When I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I was measuring from the end and didn't take in the height of the center. It took you long enough to respond, Alec. Where have you been?
I'm just doing other other stuff and answering different questions nowadays apart from the length the problem for bags is the depth of the seam at the back and the large "hump" in the folded 6k needs a tall bag for a fold over top to zip up. But I suppose it's worth the hassle for the great screens!
