Hello everyone!

I just won on eBay, "Getting the Most from your KN7000 Book and CD." I got it for 10 dollars. I don't have Alec's book "How Do You Do That" and I am wondering if I really should have it with what I am getting since it covers specifically the KN7000, which I have. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

In my opinion, nothing comes even close to covering the KN7000 like Alec's book. To me, Alec's book is a must, and all the rest could be helpful.

Actually, "How Do I Do That" was written for the KN6000 and 6500, but it has much relevant information on the KN7000.

Thanks, Bernie9 and Larry for your help. Larry, I am unsure which book you are referring to. Is it the "How Do I Do That" or the book that comes with the CD? As I understand it, both of these items are by Alec and the book with the CD pertains only to the KN7000. Let me ask this question, is EVERYTHING covered (repeated) in the later book with CD that the earlier book, "How Do I Do That" has, plus dealing with the new features on the KN7000? I am aware that a dealer offers a KN7000 "update" when selling the "How Do I Do That" book.

Thanks, again -

In my opinion,"How Do I Do That" shows you how to do things like creating patterns, editing, and creating pads, in a fundamental way ,as these were innovations at the time. "Getting The Most--" expands on these things and more.

I would say they do not duplicate, and are both are nice to have.

I agree with Bernie.

Both books are nice to have and can come in handy.

So far, "Getting the Most-KN7000" is the book I use the most especially for advanced work with file and new features, etc.

Thanks for your valued opinions. I am quite familiar with creating patterns and editing but have never done anything with Pads. I'm sure it is much like using the COMPOSER. One day I shall try creating something in the Pad section. I look forward to the KN7000 book and CD. I should have it today. I really need help in all the SD functions and I'm sure Alec has covered it well. Thanks, again.

Hi everyone! I’m Pete and I’m new to this forum. Thx for having me. I registered (Kerry was nice to do this for me), because I have recently bought a Technics SX-KN6500, but as a sax player who can play a little, I need all the help I can get with this keyboard. Can someone direct me to the author of the book which teaches people how to delve deeper into the KN6500? Or would both books mentioned above help? Thx for your input. Sorry to bump such an old thread.
Pete

The KN7000 is a bit of a different animal from the KN6500 not the least because it uses SD memory Cards to retain set up information. This web site might be able to provide you with more relevant info - https://technicskeyboard.com/forums/ - or ask away on here...

Hi Pete and welcome to the forum...

The book "How Do I Do That" was written by Alec Pagida many moons ago (2001). It's an excellent publication and was specific to the KN6000 / KN6500 models, although much of the information is also relevant to the later model, the KN7000. The later book "Getting the most from your KN7000" - was also written by Alec and as its name suggests, was dedicated to the KN7000 and probably wouldn't be of much interest to you.

"How Do I Do That" was available for some time after initial publication, from a guy in USA called Walt Tenay who had a website Keynote Publications at http://www.keynotepublications.com. However, that link appears to be dead now..... I don't know if Walt is still with us... maybe another member on this forum could let us know.
The only email I could find is keyboardsareus@bellsouth.net

I expect the book is probably long out of print now, however you might find some kind owner on this forum who would be willing to part with his or her copy... Worth asking smile
Hope this helps......
