There's another way of accomplishing what you want but not using Easy Composer Record. Use Pattern Copy instead, yes that's what I said...

I'm not sure if you have this feature on the KN7000, but on the the PR804 when you get to the pattern copy main page, I have page 2. Going there is a whole new world. You can copy from the preset individual parts and memory and copy to memory. If you like a particular accomp part in a particluar group, you copy to another. The best thing is you know what it is and don't have to do a hit and miss...!!!

Let me know if you have page 2... If you do, you're going to like it. With this who needs "Easy Composer Record"???

YEP! KN7000 does have Pattern Copy - I use it all the time and as you say, it's a great starting point for making up 'New' styles in Composer. Pick a bit from here and a bit from there, change in instrument or two, tweak some levels...... and Voila!

I had totally missed this function. ( Better get the manual out and see what else I've missed (heehee)
I'm fairly certain the kn5 didn't do it, so it hadn't occurred to me that the kn7 could.
Wow, you've totally made my day by pointing it out to me.
Well, having recorded the easy composer phrases, won't go totally to waste either, as I'm hoping to create a bit of midi phrase database in my computer. Something I've been planning to do for years and never quite gotten round to.

I feel a little guilty that the PR804 can play KN7000 formated files, but not the other way around. Maybe I can contribute to the forum in other ways.

Glad you like the new find. Page 2 of Pattern Copy also was not available on the PR900. The one thing I really thought would be a good feature to have. Sorry I was a little hard on the "Easy Composer Record".

Come to think of it I never did give any insight to what my musical and Technics background is. I will write one up and post it separtely.

well, I suppose one thing that easy composer can do that you can't do in pattern copy page2, is create new drum parts, by mix n match. Pattern copy uses the existing drum parts 1 & 2 from the styles.
On the whole though, for what I want to do, pattern copy page 2, is going to be far more useful to me.
