Hi Rikki

I do know that a great many of the styles on my PR54 are in the KN2600 Styles Disks and the PR54 has some of the KN7000 styles. So as Alec said I doubt there are more than a handful.

Sorry I missed the styles group. I would have liked to have been in on it.

Very Best
Heather

Hi Alec,

Just tried to access the new sites. They seem to be down.

Just thought I pass it on.

Hi All

Yes! I've tried several times to view the site today and each time was given the message "site unavailable" Glad you mentioned it though as was beginning to think I have yet another problem with this so called updated "state of the art" PC.

I'll try again tomorrow.

KN7000 website is up and running but I cannot download the PDF files. It starts the process, then quits without going any further. Anyone else having this problem?

Hi Heather,
it's still there http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kn7000styles/

I've been busy testing some new software I bought, to hopefully help me simplify some of the things I do when I create a style ( haahaa) so I've been a bit quiet on the forum & in the group.

best wishes
Rikki

Hi, Not wishing to put a damper on all the excitment above which I am sure is well founded, but has everyone now gone over to the KN7000? I have only had my KN6500 for 1o months and already it seems to obsolete as far as files to download and talking points in discussion groups. Is there anything new available for the poor old Kn6500?

Hi Tony,

Something I been very disappointed with Technics is once a new model comes out. No matter how wonderful, how great the current model was, might as well dig a grave for it.

I been involved with Technics PR's since 1996 and noticed then how big and popular the KN3000 was, and compatible with the PR900. Then the KN5000 came out, well that just killed the KN3000. Then of course the KN6000/KN6500 killed the KN5000. And you discovered what the KN7000 has done for KN6x00 series. No doubt when the KN8000(guessing model) comes out replacing the KN7000, I'll give it a year and people will say, what's a KN7000?

Knowing all this, it's sad the older models can not play newer model formats. I even asked why couldn't there be a "save as" feature in all new models to make it compatible with the older ones. That idea wasn't to positive, because why save in older formats? People just don't realize not everyone can afford buying the new models each time they come out, and really have to stay with what they have.

One of the reasons why I thought NX could fill that area, but finding out it's not all that simple. So that leaves MP3, which is great when listening to other peoples music. But that doesn't help in getting new composer files, sounds, etc to increase ones library.

The KN7000 website has really undertook (1. A major project by gathering all the KN model styles from the KN2000 to the KN6500 and converting into KN7000. (2. First to my knowledge this was ever done. Those who has KN7000 compatible units will have a field day with these? But still this leaves out a lot of people that own uncompatible models, and are unable to use the styles.

All in marketing strategy...

Anthony

Well, this is of course marketing strategy, but also a question
of our needs and whishes regarding this great inventions.

I've, as many of you, bought most of the new KN keyboard models
from Technics, started with the K350, then KN800, KN1000, KN2000
some years ago.
I even ordered the new goodies before they was in the store, but
after I got the KN3000, I did not buy the KN5000 before after the
KN6000's was in the shop.
People who know me thought I was seriously ill since I did not go
for the latest as I usually did, but I found that the "old" one
still could do the things I want it to do, at least compared to my
skills regarding the use of it, and guess what, it still do

The compability I think will never go back in models, and as we've
seen, it hardly goes the other way either without using converting
tools etc., but that's probably also a result of the new developed
technical solutions, you have to leave the old technology when you
find a new and better one to replace it.

The fact that we don't see any new aditions of styles and software
who fit the old models is too bad. Most all those instruments are
still in use by people who bought it, and a lot ovn second hand or
later bought models too.
I know many looking for more and new such stuff to play along with,
and I think Technote and others should not forget that market as
soon as a new model show up.

There will always be new technical solutions and ways to make this
playable wondermachines even more tempting for us to buy, and I'm
pretty sure that I am one of the Technicsusers who will "jump on the
train" again very soon, and when I do so, hopefully the backward
compability will make it possible to try out all the new stuff we can
see at the KN7000 site now

Welcome sx-KN8000
