I have been scanning the Internet to establish if there were any books by Gilbert O'Sullivan still in print. I found a site that said that there two books, Gilbert O'Sullivan Special Collection 1991 published by IMP and The Best of Gilbert O'Sullivan 2001, published by Watanabe Music Publishing Co. Japan. I have been informed by a supplier of music that these books are no longer available in this country.

Has anyone seen them in the music stores, or have got them or similar? I would appreciate any information if so.

I am interested particularly in acquiring the music for Nothing Rhymed, Christmas Song, Ooh-Wakka-Doo-Wakka-Day and Matrimony.

I thought I had better clarify the "Christmas Song"

I can only remember a few of the words but I think the beginning of the song starts.

'I'm not dreaming of a white Christmas'

and the end of the song goes something like

'I'm not dreaming of a white Christmas but a peaceful world'

Hi Joan

Haven't heard this song since the Seventies,
one of Gilbert O'Sullivans best. If it's any help I can send you a recording of this song, you may be able to pick out notes chords etc if you can't find the sheet music.

I'll make some enquiries about the sheet music with friends let you know if i'm lucky

Kind regards

Peter

Hi Peter, Thanks for your above offer of the music. Yes his songs were around the 1970s and in their own way are unique in that they tell a story.

I am very pleased to say that due to this post on the forum I have had success in finding the songs I require and would like to extend my thanks to Peter, Johnnie and in particular Bob Hendershot who on the eve of going into hospital for major heart surgery took the time to send me a Christmas song hoping that it was the one I wanted. Good luck for a speedy recovery Bob.

By the way - the words of the Christmas song were just as relevant in the year O'Sullivan wrote it as they are today - they are:

Christmas Song - Words and Music by Raymond O'Sullivan

I'm not dreaming of a white Christmas,
I'm not dreaming of a white Christmas,
All I'm dreaming of the whole day long
Is a peace-ful one.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
To those of you who live in fear,
And let us hope that very soon,
The peace you seek will then resume.

I'm not dreaming of a white Christmas,
I'm not dreaming of a white Christmas,
All I'm dreaming of the whole day long
Is a peace-ful , peaceful one.

I think we would all agree and say Amen to that.
