I gather most of the posts on the upcoming new Techic's flagship keyboard are still in the guessing/wish mode. I wonder why we call it the KN7000. I am new as a Technic's owner but I think I remember they had a KN800, then KN1000, KN2000, KN3000, then jumped to KN5000, then KN6000, Kn65000.....so I would assume the new Technic's should jump a little further then 6500 to 7000. I has to at least be an KN 8000! A KN7000 would only be a minor upgrade, that would never do.

I hope they add a new feature.....the one that correct my wrong notes!!!

.....I think I'm only 3 posts away from Member versus Junior Member....sorry if I wasted your time with this silly message.

I was told that the reason for the skip from 3000 to 5000 is due to a Japanese dislike of the number 4, 40, 400, 4000 etc. It's something to do with an oriental superstition

Kn10 seems like going backwards, but we shall see. Now I could see KN 10000 maybe.

That's interesting, I assumed the jump from 3000 to 5000 was to show the big jump in technology in the keyboard. Never assume.

The thing that worries me about the new keyboard, whatever it's called, is whether my wife will finally throw me out when I get it - "What, another one, out you go and take them with you."..........

Is anyone else like me and spends weeks eagerly anticipating the new board only to arrive at the shop and feel so guilty at leaving the 'old' keyboard there in part exchange.
I always feel like I abandoned it! Last time I even made the dealer promise he would send it to a good home and someone who would appreciate it!!!
Mind you I am the same with my car

I think you are correct. Isn't the number 4 rendered as "Shii" which is also the name of "Death"? For this reason, some superstitious prefer "yon".(Superstition is hard to imagine in modern technology.)

that's very interesting about the number 4...

in fact there was little change in the actual voices from 3000 to 5000, with very few new voices. The doubling of wave rom meant that the same samples came out better with more dsp power available too, and the improved speaker system helped considerably.

the nx chip was a much bigger step forward overall.
