Can anyone explain why all the endings,
Im talking end fills ,Kn2600/7000 are nothing
to do with any song I know.
Great rhythms great fills, then we hit the ending button, and sorry useless in most occasions.

Comments Please.

Barry

Sometimes I use the 'fills' as intro's or endings and if you are able to read music, why not use the sheet 'ending'. My two eldest brothers are 'ear' players and they use one or two bars from the actual song they are playing. Of course, it may not work for you but I'll bet you'll have fun finding out.

Mostly I agree with you Barry - that's why I often 'do my own thing' with the styles as well. There are the odd one or two which do seem to fit a particular song/tune. Why not experiment with the Composer and make your own endings... it's not really that difficult

All are very good suggestions, I too use the fill-ins as intro's and endings.

What I noticed, is that the endings have the wrong instrument(s) playing compared to the melody sound. Like, if I played the melody using a sax, and the ending has distortion guitar. Gives an impression where did that sound come from, and what happened to the sax sound? What I like to do in these cases, is just change the sounds to the similar ones used during the song.

Also, the volume can be a little louder, which makes the ending come out stronger than the song itself. I adjust the sound volume in the composer for the ending.

Sometimes, not all the time, just a few simple tweaks can make a difference.

Never mind the endings and fills - are any of the preset rhythms the absolutely right styles for any songs...?
I think I found one of Harrison's great numbers 'My Sweet Lord' and that's about it...
Rog
p.s. That's why I don't use the presets...

Hiya Bernie
Good to hear from you - practically all the songs you heard me play at the jam were not using standard presets.
Over the last ten years I have scanned the internet for style files (rhythms) which are specific to particular songs irrespective of which type of keyboard they were produced for originally - the largest proportion that I have found started out as Yamaha style files.
I then convert them using Styleworks Pro so that I can use them on my Technics KN7000 often with a bit of tweaking needed to make them sound OK - and I now have a collection of the RIGHT sounding style files for over 500 hits covering the last 50+ years.
It does mean that when I'm playing publicly people instantly recognise the song that I am playing and sing along or tap their feet.

Hi Rog:
I think you are being very unkind to the talented musicians that produced the presets.

Hi Barry - to answer you original question, I seem to remember that the preset styles are not allowed to completely replicate intros etc because of copyright.

I think (IMHO) there are some excellent styles and to support my statement, here are just a few of the styles that I use and I think they take some beating:

Modern Opera - Bring him home from Les Miserables
SummerBallad - Theme from a Summer Place
Space Epic - Star Wars
70's PianoRock - Crocodile Rock
70's Soul - You are the sunshine of my life
Organ Samba - Tico Tico
Movie Ballad - When you wish upon a star

John

Hi John
You're certainly right they are talented musicians and I've met some of them when they've been touring the U.K. promoting whatever was the latest Technics model...
Maybe you are right that they can't exactly replicate original sounds/intros etc for copyright reasons which is why I use their competitors rhythms....mmmmm....
Best wishes - Rog
