Like Buddy, if anyone can convert the KN7000 Bolero file, which Bill Norrie so kindly sent me,and others to my Dig. Piano or even to a KN6500 (which will convert to my piano),I will be eternally grateful.
Sorry to say Bill, it did not work.
I am so envious of all you KN7000 owners who have benefitted from Bill's technology, and I may have missed out, I am as mad as hell and I won't stand for it!!!!!. Well, maybe I will. I saw a KN7000 on ebay last week, but "the gardener" would not have been too happy if I arrived home with it. I can tell you, I was very tempted!!!!!

RAY.....

Perhaps if you buy that 7K as a Christmas gift for "The Gardener"...... That flower would need some instructions on its use???

Eventually.... The Gardener would want to go back to gardening?????

You can't have my 7K.... that is a promise!

Hi Elizabeth,
Now, one thing at a time...I have never been on a promise, so nothing has changed.
My Gardener is the best in the business, and although I am perfect, (see username), I do not interfere in that department. I assume that your domicile does not involve more than the odd flower box, and that is sad.
Now to music; As you have been a recipient of Bill Norrie's Bolero rhythm, and me being such a nice person, maybe you could find a way to get it to work in the 6000, send me a copy and we would be greater friends for life.
I saw another 7000 for sale, but because of the problems I had getting my pianner fixed, I am very hesitant about buying another Technics, although reading all of the comments about Technics and Tyros, methinks KN7000 still reigns. Another of the tough decisions in life. How lucky we are????

If the style are in the KN7000 composer format, it should be easy to convert
"down" to KN6000/6500 by use of EMC.
If it's OK for Bill, I can help you out by convert the style, but if tweaking
needed, you have to do that yourself.
I say 'if' because most often convert within same brand gives far better result
than when quick convert between the different brands.

G'day GJ,
I would be extremely grateful if you could convert to the KN6500, as I know for sure it is compatable with a PR903.
Because the file is only rhythms, and it is within the same brand, I feel sure that tweaking may not be necessary. Generally an area outside my scope, I'm just a "player", so let's hope it is successful and others can benefit from it. What great rapport there is on this Forum. Thanks a million
Johnny!!!

OK with me Guy's ! Go ahead with the conversion with my blessing. I would appreciate a copy so that I can send it to other KN6000 users, should they want it........

G'day fellas,Many Thanks Bill, over to you now Jonny,I await you pleasure. I have just checked with my brothers KN6000, and the files transfer to my pianner, (Yoiks!! and Whoopee!!), a few glitches with loading and saving, but I think it was to do with the discs.

Hello Ray,

Try contacting Fred Mellink. He is a very talented man who, I am sure, will help you if he can.

His email address is f.mellink@chello.nl

G'day Audrey,
Thanks for your suggestion, but I think Gunnar Jonny has received my copy of the file and I will await the results of his efforts, before I approach others.
Merry Christmas to you all again, (even Nigel).

Hello Ray,

What is the make and model of your piano? I have the Technics PR900 Electric Piano and I've now had time to look through my Technics Floppies and find that in Patterns & Registrations Vol.6 there are two Boleros
No.5 is Bolero 3/4 and No.6 is Bolero 4/4.
Would you be able to use either of these?

Let me know.

Audrey

At last I've had a chance to try the Bolero style which Gunnar converted, but I'm afraid it will not load on my KN7000 So I expect it will not load on your piano Ray............

Gunnar, I can send you a 'fresh' copy if you wish, just in case the original got corrupted, in transfer.

Any messages like other instrument or something when try load the style Bill?
Sure, we'll try again, just pass over the file. Sorry I cannot test myself as
I don't have Technics myself anymore, but usually convert between models of
the same brand works good, often far better than between different brands.

Cheers

G'day folks,
Audrey first. My piano is a PR903, I will check again, but I really want Ravel's rhythm.
Bill and Gunnar, the response I got from my piano and a 6K was.....Error; 1, An error occurred while loading please try again. It did not say it was for another product, so it must be very close to right.I thought it might be operator failure, but obviously that is not the case. I will try it on another 6K or KN6500 if I can find one. Thanks for your efforts so far.
Ray
I wonder how those with a 7K faired trying to load your file Bill??

Btw, when convert, I got a message that Sound memorey file, (.tm) was missing.
That's probably not the reason why the file don't load. Anyway, I've redone the
coversion with the same files I got from Ray, converted With different settings
just so you can see if it will load. Look in maibox.
Cheers

Hi Gunnar,
I tried both 'Zipped' versions which you kindly emailed to me, but I just get the same error message as reported by Ray

I note that the Composer part of the converted files (.CMP), is much smaller than the original .CMP part. The original, which includes Composer Memories A, B and C is 13,125 bytes, whereas the converted Composer part of the file is only 4114 bytes.
There was no .TM part in the original - only .LSW, .PMT, SQT, .ACT and .CMP. In fact, the lengths of all the parts of the converted file, are considerably different to the original file, so it looks like either the conversion process did not work correctly or the file which you received from Ray, somehow got corrupted in the transfer??
I'll email you another copy to try - if you have the time............

Thanks for your efforts Gunnar

My pleasure sir.
New files in your mailbox, and some other tests added to try out.
Changes in filesize is normal, as it is between different models files, even in
factory made stuff.
The fault we see might as well be a sofwarebug, if so, I'll give the author a
message about it.

Happy Playing

Hi folks , I've just had a look at my emc style universal 2000 conversion soft- ware prog and clicking on the configuration button all the popular makes of manufactures keyboards and models are listed ,including all the KN Technics range .......but no PR range is listed !!

this may well mean that it is not possible to convert from Kn to the PR model .

An e mail to Klaus at EMC software Germany will settle this discussion once and for all .

If you would like the e mail address for e mc software ...just send me an e mail .

Regards ......giovanni

What to use as target for convert depends on the compability between PR and KN's.
So i.e. if a PR read KN6000/6500 files, the option for KN6000/65000 should do fine.

G'day guys,
I have previously transferred files from storage data in 6K to my PR, so they are definately compatable.
Sorry to put you all through this, but maybe we will all learn something from it, and be able to convert all sorts of instrument brands to other brands,if it can be resolved eventually!!!

Gunnar,
The latest Zip files still give error
message as before. I note from your post times, that a lot of you don't sleep much, or do you all work nightwork. Don't relate my post times as I am 12 hours ahead of you. Keep at it.

Yes, something comes out of it, also I would never been aware of this bug or
fault in the software if not tried this conversions.
I'm curious if the two other brands files converted gave same message or if
this is only when save as KN6, 65 or 7000 files within Technics brand.

Well, time here is GMT +1, and night/day time stretched a bit as I have some
days vacation. Then I can sit up half the night and do the things I usually
don't do much of anymore, as i.e. explore more of the keyboards secrets.

Cheers
GJ
