Iwant to purchase a microphone that will be suitable for the KN7000 & Kn2600. The one I've got will not work with either keyboard.
Any suggestions?
Derek

Why won't it work? Either you have the wrong impedance that can be changed or you don't have a quarter inch jack on the end of the cable that can also be changed.

There is a mic switch on the KN7000 that needs switching on....

Hi Derek,

I seem to recall other people had problems with their microphones and the TechPlus magazine gave instructions in their workshop on how to set it up on your keyboard. It seems it isn't just a matter of connecting it correctly. I know I set mine up as per their instructions and then saved it to a floppy disk. It's getting late now, so I'll look for it tomorrow and send you a copy.

Hope you and Rosemary are keeping well, as we both are this end.

Audrey

Hi, Derek -

Make sure you are in EXPAND MODE and you have VOCALIST set to ON. Your mic slider volume control on the left side of your keyboard should be set high enough for the mic volume to come through.

RMempstead, what "mic switch" are you talking about that needs switching on? I know of no such. Turning Mic on, on the right side of the keyboard has nothing to do with the mic working. It is only for effects.

Derek, if your present mic is a low impedance mic, it needs to be changed to a high impedance otherwise, it will not work.

I tried it in expand mode but still no joy, all I got was a hum.

I would think any high impedance mic will work. They can be dirt cheap or quite expensive. I use a Beyer M-500 that is quite costly. It all depends on how serious you want vocals to sound.

Most people spend lot’s of time selecting a microphone and neglect spending time learning how to sing effectively.

1-Breathing???
2-How to comfortably reach the high notes?
3-Am I singing in the correct range for my voice?
4-What is my comfortable low note?
5-What is my comfortable high note?
6-Can I tell if I am in my key singing range just by looking at the lead sheet?

There are many exercises that take little time but have a great effect on the sound of your singing voice.

I don't want a mic for singing just as a PA

Derek,

Just a Dixie cup and string will do.

By the way for people interested in the CD I can help. Just send me an email.

fmlk,

Looking at the image of Casper Eekhof and seeing the mic he is using, that doesn't look like a Shure SM58 that I used years ago in performance. It looks just like my Beyer M500. Perhaps Shure copied the Beyer look in later years. The Shure SM58 that I used was a fair mic, slender and looked like the Shure SM57 and not too expensive. What it will cost today is another matter.

Derek, if you are looking for just a P.A. mic, I suggest you go to Radio Shack and buy an inexpensive high impedance mic, try it out and if it doesn't suit your needs, take it back and get another one.

High impedance = feedback in my experience working with the girls www.tributeartistes.com - I always record my radio programmes using a load impedance mic through my KN7000.
Rog
p.s. I reckon the only reason Derek can't get his microphone to work through his KN7000 is because he's not set his keyboard up properly to accept that input.

Hello,

The mic you can see on http://www.caspereekhof.nl/faith.htm is my microphone, not a Beyer but a Shure SM58. It is one of the most used and popular mics for singing.
