Hard Drive for 9000 PRO ensnareyou

While Yamaha recommends the Toshiba MK-1214GAP as the only approved drive for the 9000 Pro, here is a list of Toshiba drives I have used with the 9000 Pro that worked for me.

Size GB Model Thickness

6.0 MK-6015MAP 9.5 mm

6.4 MK-6411MAT 8.5 mm

8.1 MK-9113MAT 8.5 mm

10 MK-1017GAP 9.5 mm

12 MK-1214GAP 9.5 mm

Toshiba makes several other drives that should work as well. The main thing you need to know is that it must be their 2.5" ultra slim line IDE version to fit properly into the 9000 Pro. Also, anything above 8GB the 9000 Pro can format but it won't be able to access any more than 8GB of space. Because of this fact I wouldn't recommend spending the extra money on a larger drive.

Have any idea why Yamaha recommends 12 Gb drive, while PSR9000 uses MAX of 8 Gb? A sort of a commercial hint maybe.

Just for the record one of our psr group members fitted a 10gb disc to his PSR9000. It's a Hitachi K23BA-10E and works a treat
