I have noticed that there are not to many Yamaha synths prior to 1983 for sale anywhere espically in the US. Why is that? Once in a blue moon I will find at least one maybe two on ebay, but that's it. The rest are from From 1983 and on.

I wasn't looking for anything, I was just making an observation. Why, dou you come accross vintage synths?

I dabble in all things SALEable. You never know what I might find !

Thats cool. I have always loved the synths made between 1970-1983 pre MIDI. I have an early ARP OMNI the First version, which I bought for $150.00 from a Pawn Shop. I also had an early AXXE as well whcich had the Pitch bend knob. I wish I had not sold it. Paid $250.00 for it on ebay.

I would still like to own a Minimoog someday, but the current prcies for those are still too high. Could almost buy The Minimoog Voyager for the going price of a Vinatge Mini.

Sometimes even the more unusal synths are cool too.

Like Korg's Monopoly or The Prophet 600 (even though it has MIDI, it's cool becuse it was one of the first synths to have MIDI onboard.) Or some of Yamaha's Early synths, even the ARP 2600.

Chances are if I find an eraly synth at a reasonable price I will buy it. That's how I bought the OMNI, that and the Fact I thought It was cool, and was my first vintage synth. There is just something about all those knobs, and the woulden cases, and the fact that they are all analog.

I'm going to be looking at a minimoog tomorrow Paul. It's part of a package of studio equipment that I, along with a guitarist I work with, may be purchasing. I like vintage stuff too, but I don't have very much time to mess with it, and I have the soft minimoog anyway, which for now is quite adequate for me. If it's reasonable, I might buy it anyway. I'll let you know. Judging by what the seller is asking for the whole package, and what is in the package, the MM looks to be reasonably priced. I'll see if it is in working condition and go from there.

Yea, I have been trying to get a minimoog myself for quite sometime. I almost had one three years ago, until I found out it was a scam (long story). Anyway I was hoping that with the advent of the Minimoog Voyager and Arturia's Minimoog V, that the price for a classic mini would have dropped, but it hasen't. Lowest price I have found for one was on ebay for $999.00. Most usually got for 1,200.00 to 1,500.00.

But I still look to find any decent analog synth with a reasonable price tag. But with ebay that makes it hard, and if I do find one at a price I am willing to pay, about 18 other people have found the same one and then the price goes up. Even music stores sell old analog synths at high prices as well. But anything old analog synthwise tends to go faster then the old digital gear.

Yamaha's first synthesizer was the SY-1 in 1973 Then came the SY-2 , and the HUGE GX-1 . In no particular order was the CS-01 , CS-5 , CS-10 , CS-15 , CS-15D , CS-20M , CS-30 , CS-40M , CS-50 , CS-60 , CS-70M , CS-80 , EM-80a mixer with preset drum machine , SK-10 , SK-15 , SK-20 , SK-30 , SK-50D , SS-30 string machine . Their last analog synthesizers before the DX-7 was the SK line , the CS-70M , and the small CS-01 . Yamaha synthesizers were not selling well at all , and the problem went back to the late 70s . The DX-7 saved their asses and put money in their pockets .

I found a Roland VP-330 Vocoder plus on ebay for $1,300.00. Nice synth but to high a price for my taste. Also found a Korg Delta for $100.00, but it's missing the joystick.

Now $100.00 I could do, but not $1,3000.00

Paul - I had the Delta about 12 years ago - It's pretty good - You have two sections, Strings and synth and you can mix them.

Only a single oscillator as I remember but I got some great brass and reed sounds out of it as well as reasonable pure synth sounds.

Sounds like a good buy to me
