Most of you are aware of the fact that I had purchased and then subsequently lost a Minimoog synthesizers from a guy in Israel. Who by the way said would refund my money? Anyway back to my original point. Finding a replacement for the lost mini. Many have told me to buy a Korg MS2000, others a Nord Lead, or JP8000. While these are good synths, they are still out of my price range. So, I have been thinking that instead of saving money to buy a VA synth. Instead use it towards buying a vintage analog synth. Either a Korg Polysix, or a Roland Juno 60. Granted that these are older synths, with no MIDI and are a bit heavier then today’s VA’s. Plus I can find ones a little cheaper then a newer VA.
At least the Korg POLYSIX has large knobs that I like, as opposed too those dinky knobs on the MS2000. I know everyone raves how great a synth the MS2000 is but I have too disagree. The sounds are good, the keyboard feels good, and everything is laid out well. But I really detest those blasted knobs. No offense to MS2K users, but I can’t stand them. As for the Microkorg, if it had full size keys I would buy one.
The main reason for wanting a Korg Polysix or Roland Juno 60 is mainly because of already owning two vintage analog synths which I still own. I’m not sure why, since they don’t get much use. Maybe it’s my fascination with older analog synths. That and the fact I have more or less bought and then subsequently sold off digital synthesizers.
I let everyone know what I decide. Who knows I may wind up with both?
